Hey guys. I have a 100lb everlast heavy bag. I originally planned on getting a banana bag but the problem was that the ceiling in my basement was too low to hand a banana bag(drop ceiling) so i opted for the everlast because it would hang low enough for lower aimed kicks. Of course when i kick the bag low the bag starts to swing wildly. Has anyone found or know of a heavy bag anchor that I can attach to the bag to limit its swing range? I dont mind a little swing because it allows me to move with the bag but after a few hits I have to stop the bag. The bag doesnt have a hook at the bottom so I'll need something that'll wrap around the bag. Thanks in advance.

The problem with that is there is nothing to connect the bag to the anchor. I was wondering if anyone knew of a belt like harness that could connect to an anchor or knew of a homemade solution.

I recently bought a bag off of ebay that I have the same problem with: that is, there is no strap with which to anchor the bottom. My plan is to use a band of heavy duty duct tape (like the tape made by Gorilla) wrapped around the circumference of bag (near the bottom) to secure a strap of nylon webbing that will run under the bag. The anchor will then then be hooked to the strap.

Although it is not pictured, it comes with a board with a chain that you place the bag over which you use to attach the bag via bungee cord.

I have a banna bag at home. I have it hung so it's about 2-3 inches off the ground. I place 2 sand bags behind the bag in a V shape so the bag doesn't swing too much. I also use a heavy bag swing that I got from Ringside to lessen the stress on the bag support beam. It works pretty damm good and I didn't cost much.

This is what comes with the Ringside/Combat Sports Kit

The bag (which I fit about 100lbs of sand inside)
MDF board with bolted chain. (features about 7 links, I cut most of them off)
and bungee to attach to bottom of your heavybag.

And I'd also recommend their heavybag spring which dampens vibration.

I'm abou to buy anew house and plan on hanging a Thai bag, is 6' 11" from the (I)beam to the basement floor enough room ? what else would you recommend other than a (I)beam bracket hanger from CSI to get ?

If you're concerned about a lack of height for the bag to hang properly, you could consider this hanger: http://store.everlastboxing.com/everlast-rafter-heavy-bag-hanger-ehbh.html

Obviously you can't use it w/ your i-beam, but you could still connect it to 2 joists close to the i-beam if you're still worried about it.

In my basement, it's saving me at least 10"-12" compared to using an i-beam bracket.

Any idea what weight it is rated for? Looks sturdy, but I'm concerned cuz once my thai bag is filled it will weigh around 200 pounds. Don't really want to damage the roof of my garage.
