Heat (95) is getting a Sequel

Mann guest-starred on an episode of 'The Rewatchables' movie podcast a few months ago, & talked about this book. They also spent the rest of the episode talking about HEAT. Great episode for any superfans out there

Just looked it up, glad it's online, here it is for anyone who wants to hear it, will listen later.

would have liked to see an alternate ending, mccauley avoids waingro, went to his out with edie, and had waingro killed in prison. hanna is left empty handed, but arrests nate's paid off cops.

I wouldn't mind seeing Chris going after Hanna. Seems like Chris would be emotional enough for that.

De Niros character wasn't going to let him live and it also showed he didn't truly love the girl since he walked out on her, his motto was always Don't get attached to someone you can't walk out on if you feel the heat around the corner.

Getting his revenge was greater than living happily ever after

Id be willing to bet this will be a sort of sequel to Mann's Thief too. Nate tells Neil "He's taken down some heavy crews. Blew away Frankie Yonder in Chicago and he was a fucking maniac" when talking about Hanna's background. I would think that's the same Frank from Thief which is set in Chicago.

I'd prefer it's not revealed it is I like Frank just walking off into the dark and not knowing his eventual fate.

It's interesting. I am listening to Mann on the podcast. He says McCauley's first mistake was going after Eady. That is against his system, but that would suggest he does love her. That initial crack leads to the second crack in the system, which is going after Waingro.

It's interesting because from this perspective you must do both or neither. If you will allow yourself to act emotionally in one case, then you will allow yourself to act emotionally in the other. From this perspective, McCauley couldn't have just gotten Eady and not went after Waingro.

I mean if Mann said it then it's right lol that actually makes more sense then what I was saying, you can tell De Niro likes her but once I saw him lock eyes with AL and then glance at her I felt he was just living up to his motto.

With the way computing power is growing and the advancement of AI, you will probably see a fan made full length high quality sequel made by one person in 5 years time.

The film can begin with Hanna gaining a new perspective on his life from McCauley’s death, as they shared a similar ethos to life and he realizes that maybe McCauley’s fate is ultimately where he’s headed. The film can show him taking a step back, spending time with his family, repairing his relationships. Things look hopeful and optimistic.

Then boom Chris comes back and goes to war with him. Maybe even Hanna’s family gets in middle and becomes collateral damage. Hanna gets drawn right back into the war, he and Chris hunt each other.

Not sure how it ends, think of it later

I'm making my way through the podcast...

LOL Michael Mann's Heat Fortune Cookies

I just watched Heat for the first time a couple of days ago. The way it ended and the deaths that occurred in real life, I’m guessing it’ll be an entirely new cast? All the CGI in the world won’t make Pacino not look like the crypt keeper.

- No point without the most talented actor ever: Kilmer!

Kilmer is far better than Day Lewis btw.

You are correct. But with the cast thye have assembled so far they just might be able to pull it off. Looks like Michael Mann swinging for the fences for what could be his swan song.

I AM FUCKING STOKED FOR THIS
