If only there was a way to protect yourself from home invaders

I do like that we don't has as many guns as the US but you're not wrong here and I've noticed Facebook comments over the last 2-3 years turn increasingly nasty regarding youth crime. Going from blaming the cops, to the government, to the judges and law, to outright stating they should catch a bullet.

The problem in my area is cultural. There was a recent case where a young indigenous man broke into a families house with a machete. The husband/father confronted him and killed him with the machete, suffering serious injuries himself in the process.

The indigenous community is up in arms about it, asking for justice for their son, complaining that they weren't told why he died etc. Because of their culture their family (any blood relative so a large amount of people) now have a blood feud with the home owner AND any of his blood relatives and he will have to sell his house and leave town or be subjected to repeated violence, or his home being burnt down. It is perfectly acceptable in the indigenous culture for the dead man's family to bash and kill his wife or child in exchange for what happened to their family member because it is blood relative. Very eye for an eye approach.

Mr Smith's mother, Kathleen O'Loughlin, said the family was devastated by the news.

"We are yet to be provided with a fulsome report as to how and why Tyrone's life was cut short,

"To date we have been provided with piecemeal disclosures about what happened in that house.

Ms O'Loughlin said she had only been given a limited explanation by police as to their reasoning not to charge the home owner."We want a better outcome for the family and we want justice."

There's something missing in that story. I doubt the kid stabbed the other one for simply touching his backpack. That seems like a watering down of what may have actually occurred. I think there was a scuffle at the least.

It's really depressing to see how many violent offenders have long criminal records under their belt already. How many lives could have been saved or improved if these scumbags were locked away where they belong

Handgun are extremely dangerous. Easily concealable, easy to mishandle... Almost all firearm homicides and suicides are from handguns.

It's a Progressive fallacy to go after rifles or even "assault rifles"... its fucking stupid. Almost no one dies from them. Yes, it happens, but it's rare. One extended gun battle between police officers and bank robbers changed the whole narrative.

Compromise?

Allow homeowner to purchase shotguns for home defense. Much safer. Plus, bird hunting is fun.

A talented young costume designer was enjoying her dream life working on Broadway...until an unhinged stranger stabbed her with a broken bottle.

Megan Berg, 25, was strolling through the affluent Manhattan neighborhood of SoHo at 3pm on Monday when police say a homeless man slashed her in the neck from behind, leaving her bleeding out on the street. She remains in a critical condition.

An NYPD spokesman told DailyMail.com that Muslim Brunson, 46, was charged the following day with attempted murder in the second degree, second degree assault and criminal possession of a weapon.

Brunson's alleged rampage unfolded in the area of Broome and Wooster Streets, a ritzy tourist hotspot known for its designer stores, restaurants and celebrity residents.

The suspect is also said to have assaulted another young woman moments before attacking Berg.

A NYPD spokesperson said he hit a 29-year-old woman in the back with a glass bottle at the intersection. She was unhurt and ran away, but the bottle shattered.

Brunson then allegedly used the broken bottle to stab Berg in the neck. She was rushed to Bellevue Hospital for surgery.

As far a public forums, Sherdog has the best moderation.

It's hard to get completely banned unless you're a complete unhinged jackass.

Some of the rules may seem unfair, but I get them and you're to able to post very controversial material as long as some boundaries aren't crossed.

IE - I got upset a few years and called a poster a "groomer" and got carded. I should have been and lesson was learned.

You may not like how some rules are enforced, but we're almost given a warning. And we can chose to abide or not... I mean, good luck at Reddit or other whacked out sites where mods are outright hysterical
