2 police officers and 1 firefighter killed responding to a domestic incident outside Minneapolis, governor says

Two police officers and a firefighter are dead and other officers were injured after responding to a domestic incident Sunday in Burnsville, Minnesota, the state’s governor said.

“Horrific news from Burnsville. While responding to a call of a family in danger, two police officers and one firefighter lost their lives, and other officers were injured,” Gov. Tim Walz posted online.

“We must never take for granted the bravery and sacrifices our police officers and first responders make every day. My heart is with their families today and the entire State of Minnesota stands with Burnsville,” Walz said. The governor added that flags would be flown at half-mast across Minnesota on Monday and the state Department of Public Safety is “coordinating with local law enforcement to conduct an investigation.”

Agents with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives responded to the scene after reports of local police officers involved in a “domestic-related shooting,” the agency said earlier.

There “is an active scene,” Burnsville Communications and Community Engagement Director Carissa Larsen told CNN on Sunday morning.

“Please keep Burnsville Police Dept in your prayers this morning,” Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O’Hara posted online.

Burnsville is approximately 15 miles south of Minneapolis.

The officers were responding to a call about domestic abuse, an official with a labor union representing Minnesota law enforcement and first responders said.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the family of the officers and first responder who responded to a domestic call this morning,” Jim Mortenson, executive director of the Law Enforcement Labor Services union, told CNN.

Minnesota Sen. Amy Klobuchar and her husband are praying for the officers, she said in a statement.

“They were doing their jobs. They were protecting our community. John and I are praying for them and their families and the Burnsville P.D. this morning,” Klobuchar said.

This is a developing story and will be updated.

Sad to see Minneapolis turn into this... WTF happened? I have a good friend who's family who's owned a ranch there for decades. They're blown away

I have to admit... I see red flags when a suspects ID and descriptions are withheld. Like they're attempting to hide information.... Like Ann Coulter said about the KC Shooting

It sucks I think this way right off the bat...

Guess we'll have to wait and see

Its the casualness of how these two just whip out their guns, obviously illegal, and just start blasting.

Seriously...

Blame guns all you want... but this shit on something else entirely

Brawl breaks out steps from Times Square migrant shelter; teen stabbed

A teen was stabbed Thursday evening in Times Square when a large fight broke out near a migrant shelter, police and sources said.

The brawl broke out on 42nd St. near Eighth Ave. around 5:30 p.m. steps from the Candler Building, a vacant office tower that has been converted into a migrant shelter — the scene of a caught-on-video attack on cops that roiled the city last month.

One of the people involved in the Thursday melee pulled out a knife and chased about a dozen others to Eighth Ave., witnesses said.

At the same time, officers patrolling on foot near the intersection spotted the fight and ran after the person carrying the knife, cops said.

“It was like 10 or 15 of them and they were just running back and forth,” said witness Michael Williams. “The cops were chasing the one with the knife as he ran down the block.”

The attacker with the knife stabbed a 17-year-old boy in the lower back before being arrested, police said.

“The knife was still sticking out of his back when he went down,” said Mohamed Belal, who sells hot dogs on the corner. “The one guy was on the ground, and his friends ran from the guy with the knife.”

Medics rushed the teen to Bellevue Hospital, where he was expected to survive. Charges against the person who knifed him were pending Thursday evening.

A police source told the Daily News that all those involved in the fight were migrants but could not provide details. The person who stabbed the teen and others involved were seen on video coming and going from the Candler Building shelter, cop sources said.

The same shelter was where two NYPD cops were pummeled by a ground of migrants as they attempted to make an arrest late last month.

Later Thursday, about six men got into a fistfight nearby on W. 43rd St. and Broadway around 7:25 p.m., police and sources said. Cops took three people into custody and officers went to the Roosevelt Hotel located in Midtown East — site of another migrant shelter — to seek additional people who may have been involved.

A 28-year-old man was kicked and punched in the brawl. He was taken to Bellevue Hospital to be treated for minor injuries.

If you cop haters even have to wonder why officers often pull their weapons on a moments notice...

It's because your life can be over in seconds
