A manhunt is underway in north London for a man suspected of being armed with a crossbow after three women – the wife and two daughters of a BBC journalist – were killed Tuesday evening.
Police said they were searching for a 26-year-old man, named as Kyle Clifford, in connection with the deaths, who could be in the British capital or the neighboring county of Hertfordshire.
Police were called to a house in Bushey, Hertfordshire, on Tuesday evening, where they found three seriously injured women who later died from their wounds.
The victims of the triple murder were identified as the wife, Carol Hunt, and two daughters, of BBC racing commentator John Hunt, the UK’s public broadcaster said on Wednesday. Police said earlier that the deceased, aged 25, 28 and 61, were killed in what is believed to have been a “targeted incident.”
A crossbow is believed to have been used in the triple murder, though police said Wednesday that other weapons may also have been used.
Police have asked the public not to approach the suspect.
British Home Secretary Yvette Cooper has said she is being kept “fully updated” by police on the ongoing manhunt.
“The loss of three women’s lives in Bushey last night is truly shocking. My thoughts are with the family & friends of those who have been killed & with the community,” Cooper wrote on X Wednesday.
“I am being kept fully updated. I urge people to support Hertfordshire Police with any information about this case,” she added.
A neighbor of the victims said she “would see them every day passing by and they would say good morning,” according to PA Media.
“It’s really sad what’s happened, very shocking,” she added.

Wouldn’t the larger area on the arrows leave more room for evidence? Especially since wood is kind of easily stained with various materials. I’m not a csi expert, though.Damn. I remember watching CSI as a kid and thinking a bow would be a good murder weapon. No caliber to trace back too, easy to wipe the arrow of prints before shooting. Buy that brand arrow in cash and have it be different than your normal hunting arrows and broadheads. Quiet.
The area they live in is relatively nice. Bear in mind there are some absolute shithole places in Herts, Hemel Hempstead is about 5 miles up the road and is 90% shitholeThey live in Hertfordshire. Average home price is just under 600,000 pounds.
Fkn awful. I can only take slight solace that the daughters weren't children. Some people just deserve to be beaten to death on live tv. Whoever did this is one of them
arrows are carbon fiber. Before that they were aluminum. Arrows haven’t been wood for 70 years.Wouldn’t the larger area on the arrows leave more room for evidence? Especially since wood is kind of easily stained with various materials. I’m not a csi expert, though.
You can get collapsible bows as well, up to at least 60lbs draw weight, which although less than a war bow, is apparently enough to kill someone fairly easily. Especially when they're not wearing armour. A big uncollapsible bow would tend to attract attention in 2024, unless you broke it into smaller pieces. A crossbow takes less strength and skill though. There's a competitive archer somewhere on this forum who would know about this.arrows are carbon fiber. Before that they were aluminum. Arrows haven’t been wood for 70 years.
So I figured it’s easy enough to wipe them down pre shot. Especially if buying a different brand (with cash and a ballcap from different city) that you’re only opening and using for your crime.
Wonder what made the Army gets rid of him , was he one of those that really should have been weeded out during BMT and just got bounced out by his Regiment shortly after arrival when they found out how shit he was or was there a more serious issue with him ? .
I'm assuming a car is the getaway vehicle so tossing a normal compound bow in the back only leaves you exposed based on how far from shot site to your vehicle you are. A takedown recurve bow is still fairly large, and I'd be afraid the slow arrow speed would then be a giveaway to yourself if police found a takedown recurve in your home or evidence of past usage. Whereas a compound bow just lets you blend in with any of the other bowhunters. You can get collapsible bows as well, up to at least 60lbs draw weight, which although less than a war bow, is apparently enough to kill someone fairly easily. No need for such a spectacle for their sake, just a no fuss short drop and quick stop then forget about them
