heres the dispatch call to firefighters when this whole thing went down (with eng subs)

was in episode 1 also

Gotta love all these psychos who don't give a shit about human suffering but "ahhh those poor puppies". Fuck them dogs. tt had to be done
Sorry, I hate people for the most part and have no problem with watching human suffering but leave the puppies alone.

Girlfriend of a buddy of mine stopped watching at episode three because she said it was too depressing.

It's a fucking good thing she didn't see episode four.

"She would have died but her baby absorbed the radiation."
She was literally told multiple times to not touch the dude or go into the tent, but she did anyway. This is why I don't feel bad for people in these situations (in shows) because they are stupid.

It's now the highest rated show in IMDB history:

That soldier with the big nose was a good actor !

Killing the pets wasnecessary but it still was brutal.

Wouldn’t those 90 second roofs guys die?

Killing the pets was necessary though. You don't want mutant off spring contaminating healthy populations.

No, the physicist calculated how long they can be on the roof without a lethal dose (probably not even a dose which would lead to other illness either.)

that was a typo I meant it was necessary but still hit me in the feels.

Was some really good acting

it was 2 minutes and your life expectancy drops to half and 3 minutes and you will be dead in 6 months

that lady’s baby died after 4 hours ? !The baby absorbed the radiation so she didn’t die. Crazy

I need to watch it again for that conversation with the professor and his sister . What’s the story of what his sister is trying to find out .

Man, last nights episode was something else. Like someone else mentioned, it was less tense because the initial damage is done... now it’s the long war. This episode was just so bleak and realistic regarding the circumstances of what happened.

It’s also mind boggling how something like this could happen and the governments main concern is to just protect their reputation. What terrible people.

No... they never even met before she got there.
Definitely going to need to rewatch them. Watching them late at night tired on low volume really takes away my viewing enjoyment and focus.

Going to probably be epic on blu Ray 4K also

Yeah, the volume for HBO, for me, seems to a lot lower than other channels. But, I have a 9.1 setup and just crank the volume.

Definitely going to get the 4k Bluray... hopefully in HDR too.

According to this:

http://www.chernobylgallery.com/chernobyl-disaster/radiation-levels/

"Event Radiation reading, millisievert (mSv)
Single dose, fatal within weeks 10,000.00
Typical dosage recorded in those Chernobyl workers who died within a month 6,000.00
Single does which would kill half of those exposed to it within a month 5,000.00
Single dosage which would cause radiation sickness, including nausea, lower white blood cell count. Not fatal. 1,000.00
Accumulated dosage estimated to cause a fatal cancer many years later in 5% of people 1,000.00"

"Location Sieverts per hour (SI Unit)
Vicinity of the reactor core 300
Fuel fragments 150-200
Debris heap at the place of circulation pumps 100"

The fuel fragments are 150 to 200 Sieverts/hr and to kill someone it would require 6 Sieverts. So for that case, 6/(200/hr) = 0.03 hour = 1.80 minutes = 108 seconds. To perhaps cause cancer, it would be 1/(200/hr) = 0.005 = 0.30 minutes = 18 seconds in a worst case scenario.

But the above levels were "shortly after the explosion", so the levels were quite a bit lower probably.

That guy went up there on the roof the first day, must have died within a week or two though.

According to Wikipedia, they went up in 40 seconds intervals, not 90 seconds.

Not sure which is accurate.
