Over 2/3 of Cyborg's opponents were Flyweights and Bantamweights, so how exactly is that a peak for WMMA?

Women's Bantamweight (and above) has always had laughably horrible depth, even when Rousey/Nunes were champions; Women's Bantamweight had 20 ranked fighters (worldwide) when Rousey was given her UFC title and that same division only went up to 35 ranked fighters when Pennington won the title (Men's Flyweight, by comparison, has 350 ranked fighters).

Women's Flyweight and Strawweight are the only women's divisions with enough depth to justify their existence in MMA (even then, they still only have 100 ranked fighters).

What about that Invicta event for women, does it still exist?

Holly’s last TS was 4.5 years ago. When she was 37. Loads of fighters have gotten TS at that age, and beyond. How could you totally blow such a basic fact? I suspect it’s just you being dishonest. It happens around here a lot, though.

As for the OP.. Ronda and Cyborg were massive one trick ponies. One is a proven ped user that just outmuscles, and punches very hard, while beating up smaller women. The other can’t punch to save her life, against anybody that can actually punch back.

Rocky was on a 5 fight winning streak. And just won the vacant title by beating a girl that popped after her last fight. Her win over Holly was overturned. MBS was suspended 6 months for it. How does the UFC deal with the situation? Give the popper a TS. Fucking brilliant. Thankfully Rocky beat MBS 49-46. She deserves respect, not derision. She has paid her dues for a long time.

Like many divisions, when a long time champ leaves the division or retires. There can be a state of flux. There can be upheaval. We might get that at WBW. It wouldn’t surprise me. I’m especially looking torward to the return of the Iron Lady. Will she be even close to what she was when she took a hiatus to have a baby? If she is that should be interesting. That doesn’t mean they all suck. For example..

How many men have won the MW title in the last couple of years? Izzy, Alex, Izzy, Strickland, and Dricus. Alex never defended. Izzy the second time didn’t defend. Strickland lost too. Now let’s see what Dricus does?

LHW in the last 3 years. Jan, Glover, Jiri, Hill, and Alex. Only Jan has successfully defended so far.

Joanna retired after a long very successful career in the UFC. Amanda did the same thing. Leaving as a double champ. Ronda retired from mma, too.

To talk about people retiring and then saying the divisions suck because of it is lame. Considering it happens in every division. Ebb, and flow.. Such is all life, let alone sports in general, and mma.

There is a lot of talent in SW, and finally in FLW. But just because you look down on BW, doesn’t mean Rocky hasn’t accomplished a long time dream. That she worked really hard for physically, and mentally. And she deserves to be proud. Her life has never been better. And I find it really hard to hate on good people for no reason. I don’t hold the success of others against them. I’m happy for Rocky. Btw.. I picked her to win.

Maybe that’s the problem. The ped popper lost very clearly. So Rocky, and the division sucks, right? Parts of SD love their ped cheats.

Wmma has, and will continue to progress. I just don’t think some of you know enough about mma, to even comment without looking foolish.

By your logic.. MMA as a whole has regressed. Those are the divisional GOATs. And not too many people would pick anybody today to beat those fighters in their prime.

The real "problem" is that the woman's skills have PROGRESSED! Just like the early days of UFC when the men didn't have a full skillet, fights were wilder and just more interesting to watch, mainly due to crazy shit happening.

The same was true for the early years of WMMA, but now they are also at a high skillset and gone are the wild, and fun-to-watch, fights with crazy submissions, blasteroid KOs and strikingly different skiĺlsets. I miss those days, for both mens and womans MMA.
