Has UFC/MMA lost its luster for you too

The ESPN deal was the final nail in the coffin. :-/

Too many cards with watered down match-ups, plus WMMA on them.

I used to stay up into the night to watch every card, until around 18 months ago...and these days i may catch one or two every 6 months if i cant get to sleep, but most of the time, the WMMA does the trick or boring ass fighters

WME and ESPN made UFC swing far left. It's way too Hollywood for me these days. I'd rather landscape or go off-roading

definitely, I still watch most shows, but I don't watch even half as much content as I used to.

i can barely finish a card. sucks because the talent is better now. but its just ehhhh. im from the 2007 ish era so i arguably missed the best times to some people. but now dosnt compare to 2007 in terms of interest.

Yep. I really don't even know when the events are and even on free cards I don't watch unless I just happen to come across it changing channels.

If it's lost any luster it's because there's a shortage of new stuff to see. I don't really give a shit about titles, champions, p4p, who would have beat who in their prime fantasy discussion, etc. I just like exciting fights and fighters. For me, any fight on the card can deliver, whether I know their name or not.

They should do away with testing for PEDs and make the UFC great again.

#2 has turned me into a casual. I have better things to do than watch no name amateurs play patty-cake with each other.

i think last time i really cared was around the diaz/silva fight, and i can't remember how long ago that was

I still like it but I was crazy about it up until around 2011. The combination of a rapid increase in # of divisions and cards, old stars fading and changes in the whole presentation/vibe killed a lot of my passion. Tbh part of it is probably just general apathy as I age too, lol. Sucks because i'd love to have the same kind of enthusiasm for it as I did 10 years ago.

2 and 3 in the op have definitely caused my interest to dwindle. I still don’t know wtf they were thinking with the uniforms. That was so clearly a bad idea.

I still watch it though and will continue too for the foreseeable future. I like training and I like the sport

Propping up divisions overnight definitely didn’t help. WME inventing titles to try and drum up interest in paper thin ppv cards hurt also

I lost it about 2y ago

sport is losing true specialists and we get a lot of preliminary card matchups where both guys are not particularly good at anything

both can strike, wrestle and grapple just enough to stall each other out but do not excel at anything.
How often do you see a guy at preliminaries and think to yourself : damn, this guy could be a top 5 material. Super rare.

WME ain't the problem.

Too many fighters on the roster, too many watered down cards per year, and flat out oversaturation is the problem.

MMA was special back when you knew almost every fighter in the whole sport, no matter what promotion they were in. Fans could get behind those fighters, win or lose, because they felt like they knew them. I don't know more than 2 fighters (at best) on almost every card these days. So I skip it. But not to worry, there will be another card in a week, with more people I don't know and don't care about, let alone care to see fight.

I used to buy Zuffa's line about "building the sport." Because it seemed like that's what they were doing. And they were, back then. Now? I see it for what it is. I ain't about the sport, or the fans....it's about filling their wallets. That's it. It makes me embarrassed now that I used to be a fan of Dana.

Yes. A decade ago. And declining.

Bunch a pussy ass little whining brats now. To be blunt.

I miss the days of men.

I feel you brother. Knowing the fighters was the best. You look up and down the card you know 85 percent of the fighters. That was a great feeling. Then when they started expanding that number dip to about 45 then it was pretty much Main event is all you know. Cause they had 3 cards going on that month so they had the spread the stars out.

The big turning point was Sonnen vs Jones. The event got cancelled because they had no one else on the card. No media called them out on this. They just let them get by just by blaming jones when he wasnt the problem.

Yea they shouldve kept it 155 & up. A lot of people weren't interest and let the UFC know. Then Dana just did his, your crazy and not a fight fan. The division didnt work but they kept pushing just for more belts and fill up there frequent cards.

Where is DJ fighting now?

I still watch on a regular basis and enjoy it very much still but fine points have been made on why it's understandable that some have lost interest.
