It's have been done before.

UFC Fight Night: Hendricks vs Thompson was originally UFC 196 but the main event Werdum vs Velasquez fell trough and it was turned into a fight night.

I think a fight where Hendo was involved suffered from this and I'm not talking about UFC 151

Which is why I laughed at people who used to say "See Jones isn't afraid of HW, he offered to fight Stipe on short notice!" He "offered" according to terms he were sure wouldn't be granted. The UFC weren't about to strip Werdum. It's like if you invite a friend along to something you know they won't like when you actually don't want their company at the time. Small chance of being taken up on it, but you get credit for asking.
