Has Nate ever got soundly beaten on the feet?

Call me crazy but I think Conor is the best striker that Nate has ever faced and that includes RDA. Chad Mendez even said it was hard to compete with how accurate he was and Nate is a throw all miss half striker where I think if he makes that many mistakes he's in trouble. Quote this now and we'll come back to it after the fight.

That's probably true but Nate is also the best boxer than Conor has ever faced and also the biggest and longest opponent he has seen.

The more I think about this fight, the more I can see this match-up backfiring for the UFC.

I just saw Nate vs Gomi, and is awesome the way Nate controls distance and feels fluid when he doesn't have the takedown threat.

Conor said he is going tp knocks Nate out with an uppercut? I want to see him getting in upercut distance against the boxer with reach advantage over him.

I expect takedowns attempts from Conor, like he did against Holloway

Good, then this would happen...

Seems like Connie and kavanaugh have had Nate in their sites for awhile match up wise, and his 'predictable footwork and style' . His description of the how he sees the fight pkaying out sounds eerily accurate to his prediction v's Aldo. Seems lije they think Nate is a much better match up for him than Edgar, cerrone, and rda...

I'm not a fan of Mac at all, and hope 209 beats his ass, but with no camp, I don't see this happening. Hope I'm wrong.

Only fight I can even think of is Josh Thompson...Other fights were because of the takedown...

Conor is not going to take Nate down if he's smart and I honestly think people are forgetting how good Nate is...I can't believe how many people are writing him off....

The reach and volume Nate puts out while being a great boxer does not make this a cakewalk for Conor not to mention Nate does not get hit clean very often he does not leap in.
As a Conor fan, I agree.

Can't believe how many people are calling this a "cherry picked", gimme fight. It's far from that.

Not that crazy to say. A lot of Nate's fights (including basically all of his losses) have been against grapplers or well-rounded guys, and he's out-boxed guys known for their striking. Granted, Cowboy, Marcus Davis and the version of Gomi that Nate fought aren't Conor, but Conor also isn't Rory Mac or Bendo when it comes to grappling.

His defense against kicks does leave something to be desired, though. He was boxing Cerrone up for the majority of that fight but Cerrone was chopping him down with leg kicks as the fight wore on, but he never followed up when he would knock Nate off his feet.

No one at the UFC is assuming Conor will win. That's the difference between people that make money off the sport, and people that just talk shit all day.

I'm a huge fan of the Diaz brothers, but it's no secret that Nick is far better than Nate.

They aren't exactly known for their footwork, Conor is going to make Nate look stupid. He can throw all the middle fingers he wants but this fight is pretty much going to be what Condit Vs Nick could have been if Condit was the aggressor instead of running around trying to win a points fight.

In that fight he put the formula out to beat the Diaz brothers. Movement. Something Mcgregor has emphasized and up until now, proven that is what separates him from the other fighters. Nate will have a size advantage but Mcgregor makes featherweights look slow so you can imagine how well a flat footed welterweight is going to look against him, not to mention it's not like either of the Diaz brothers have scary one punch knock out punches, they are volume punchers.

I don't think anyone is suggesting Mcgregor is going to knock Diaz out like he did Aldo in under 20 seconds, but let's not pretend either that the smart mans money isn't on Conor to win this one unless him or Nate do something completely uncharacteristic of all their previous fights.

Serra knocked out GSP at one point, there are no locks in MMA but this is about as close to one as you could ask for.

I agree with this.

Why are we saying conor wont go for takedowns? we have seen his top game in the holloway fight and its nothing to write off

Conor has deceptive reach for 5'9, which is only 2 inches shorter, don't forget how masterfully Conor can work body kicks and set up hard shots.

Want Diaz to win

The body kicks worry me the most and in the end will be his undoing

Melvin Guillard if my memory serves right. I think he was easily beating Nate but for some odd reason went for a takedown and got submitted
Melvin was doing good early in that fight but in my opinion Nate was slowly taking over. He was putting on the pressure and starting to land and Melvin actually got hit with a really good straight punch right before he shot for the takedown. It was weird as shit though...Melvin fell against the cage acting like he was more hurt than he really was...and then shot a takedown out of nowhere. But I do believe it was because of Nate's pressure and some pretty decent punches he was landing.

Benson ragdolled Nate like he was a 9 year old kid.
