Has Johnny Walker Reached his Ceiling?

It seems like his most memorable fights are the ones where he's getting KTFO.

I was suprised looking at his record to see he hadn't been finished more times than he did because everytime he fights It always feels like he's 2 seconds away from getting knocked out.

Once hyped as the guy to beat Jon Jones and still only 31 years old. Where do you see this guy headed in the next few years?

At LHW yes ... time to heal that nose during a healthy bulk to HW, 245-250lbs Walker is different fighter and at 31 he would instantly become one of the youngest in the division if not the youngest IIRC

He might wanna try heavyweight. Either his chin will get better because of no weight cut or he’ll get chinned even harder by heavy hitters. But he’s not gonna be champ at 205 so he might as well give it a shot.

That gif of him getting KO'd 3 times in one fight was at heavyweight

Which clearly shows he has crazy recovery ability at HW vs LHW... He came alive and died twice like the Undertaker at WrestleMania... An older more mature HW Walker could be different

Truly is surprising how someone can have such offensive capabilities yet goes down with one clean punch.

remember when he used to dance to octagon and was suppose to dethrone Jone Jones...

yea...

He isn't very smart and was over hyped. He reminds me of a Forrest Gump but with a even lower IQ and arrogant.

Shogun? He wasn't a big LHW...
Size was not the point. Key word is "older." When he was older and more banged up, it was harder to cut weight, making him a bit more depleted during the fight.

He is the LHW Erik Silva!

He's too wild and doesn't take things seriously enough. Unless he has some kind of lifestyle/personality change, that was it. You can't fight at the highest levels with your chip up and not blocking anything. It also didn't seem like he had anything to offer in the Ank fight over than throwing occasional flashy shots. When those didn't work, it was just him on his back foot throwing single shots.

I think Walkers problem is at times he half asses his strikes. You got some guys who only throw with bad intentions with every strike and other fighters who throw out rabbit punches to set up other things. Johnny seems to be the later but does it at terrible times. At the heavier weight classes, you can't play around like that. Ank was way too close to be trying some kick or kick feint and he paid dearly for it.

He's 90% nature and 10% nurture. I like Johnny and he seems like a really positive dude. I'd be down to see him at HW, there's enough fat guys he can kick around up there until he gets blasted by the top 10. I could see him sitting around #15 HW easily, but he can get KTFO in basically any fight. His issue is not having a camp that trains him with discipline. I don't know how he ended up at Kavanaughs.

I think his time has come tbh, and I don't think he can fix the issues he has.
He has bad defense, no jab, and his chin won't be any better at HW tbf.

Id be curious to hear the story of how he actually landed at SBG myself sir.

I have never seen a fighter telegraph a strike as badly as Johnny Walker was telegraphing the spinning backfist last night.

I don't know how where he got the idea to spam wild and brutally ovbious spinning backfists instead of jabs, but I have my doubts as to the effectiveness of that particular strategy.

A good jab can be as effective as a spinning backfist.
Maybe not as explosive, but sometimes a jab can help set something more devastating up.

Johnny tries to do everything big but lacks the discipline to set it up the right way.

Walker would be terrifying if he had a chin. I know most will dismiss this but he’s a huge LHW and I can’t help but wonder if his chin would improve without such a big cut.

No shame in losing against arguably the best LHW in the world

Just like Overeem, with a chin the Reem would be the GOAT

LHW version of Derrick Lewis?

He would benefit by going up to HW, he will be a gatekeeper at LHW from here on out imo

He hasn't been quite as good since he hurt his shoulder doing the worm after winning at UFC 235. Not saying it's responsible for his inconsistant performances, but just saying.
Probably not the case, he was getting KO'ed by nobodies before the UFC. He's not good imo, he can't really take a good shot. Also his fundamental aren't great either, he's all over the damn place.
