Movies Has James Cameron fallen off?

I wish he'd become Mr. Terminator instead. T2 was so good that I don't even think Cameron himself could surpass it, but he sure as hell could've made something better than the crap Terminator movies we got after part 2.

Hell, I'd even be happy if he became Mr. True Lies. They could've made 2 more good movies with those characters.

It's just so weird that he latched on to Avatar of all things.

I wish he'd finally make that sequel to Titanic

It is and it isn't. I think he's an engineer at heart, and uses the franchise as a vehicle to showcase new tech he's helped develop. Even when the first movie was coming out, it seemed he would barely touch on the actual movie, and would go on and on about the crazy new 3D tech they were using. That's how the movie was promoted. Like, even if you didn't care for the movie, you would have to acknowledge that it was miles ahead any other 3D tech at the time.

What's more crazy to me is that audiences have really latched onto it, even though it's not really referred to in the same vain as other BO juggernauts, and it seems people forget about it almost immediately after seeing it. Like, you don't hear anybody really obsessing over it, like they do LOTR, or Marvel flicks, or Star Wars. Like the new Star Wars trilogy is by most accounts, bloody awful, but on any given day I see debates surrounding it and discussing the finer details of it. You don't really get that with "Avatar". It just comes, makes crazy bank, and then goes away.

How would you define falling off when he's barely done any work since Titanic? He had a hell of a streak up to that point, and the dude has been to the bottom of the Marianas Trench so he's been doing other things. Avatar was really his stinker and the other ones he's doing are taking so long cause he's a rampant perfectlionist.

The only James Cameron movies I ever liked were T1, T2 and The Abyss.
To be fair though, how can you not fall off after making a genre-defining masterpiece like T2...

So Avatar is basically like those 4K/8K demo videos they show on the TV's at the store to show off the TV's capabilities.

Raging about some guy living his dream, raging about directors making movies with blue people.

I'm not the guy being opinionated about everyones doing. I'm the guy making fun of those people. Turd.

<{outtahere}>
You are the guy/gal who just made up a load of nonsense ;)

Also, why bring race into something where it didnt belong? Because you are an opinionated bigot

Never liked Aliens? wtf

The Abyss is super underrated, its a sci fi classic. Every aspect was amazing.

No, he's always done quality work. It's just he's done 2 movies since TITANIC, with a 3rd incoming. That sucks because in that time he could have done 10!

Those Avatar movies are shite, so I think so.

Pains me to say because Aliens is probably my favourite movie ever.

true lies was the beginning of the end
titanic was atypical for him, but ok, i liked it for what it is and i can understand some don't liking it
after that everything was meh

Titanic was so bad, I was cheering for the iceberg.

I tried twice to watch Avatar snd couldn’t even make it through 20 minutes. I tried to get Hugh and watch it in 3D. That somehow made it even worse.

Have you ever seen a movie in 3D while you’re high? It’s impossible for it to suck. Unless it’s Avatar.

@HUGHPHUG can you confirm, did he get you and then you guys tried to watch Avatar in 3D?

Aliens is ok but to me it doesn't have much of what I love about the original, high tension & horror in space and a brilliant theme
Yeah I just realized I wrote "the only JC movies I ever liked" which is wrong, what I meant was T1, T2 and Alien are the only ones I find great.

Still really like him but his films seem to have gotten worse in quality:

Terminator 2: Judgement Day 9/10
The Terminator 9/10
Aliens 8/10
The Abyss 6.5/10
True Lies 7.5/10

Last streak:

Titanic 8/10
Avatar 6.5/10
Avatar 2 - Haven't seen
Avatar 3 - Zero interest in seeing it

The Abyss only gets 6.5/10? Aliens only gets 8/10?

<DisgustingHHH>
