Edson is an ideal match up for him, but I thought he looked good a bit more aware of distance, showed some head movement, footwork and was more patient. It was too small of a sample to be sure, so what do y'all think?

Nah he just fought a couple of chinny fighters with even worse fight IQs than him.

He’s one of the most entertaining guys in the division but he’s FAR from champ material.

Who knows? It’s not like he lost to 2 bums. He was in 50/50 fights with 2 top tough motherfuckers

yeah I think now he is not that patient anymore and goes for the knockout early. he could have finalized poirier, last time but was too much patient

He's fighting with better distance and patience. Props to his coaches. Before he would run straight at you.

Everyone beats Barboza.

JG is going to continue to get out classed against the elite guys in the division.

Nah, he fought Barboza and Vick, who aren’t anything special.

"FAR from champ material" = Almost beating a former champ?
What are you on. Gaethje is dangerous to any man in the division. Champion or not.

he hasnt been outclassed yet. 2 b2b FOTN wars arent an outlcassing

he beat Johnson when he was #5 ranked and has KOd Poirier, beat Ferg, Tibau, Edson, Castillo etc

lol he was too patient vs poirier and alvarez... justin could have finalized dustin in a moment of that fight if he was more agressive

Barboza has always been terrible.

So now he gets credit for getting knocked out by the WEAKEST LW champ in the history of the division?

Same guy. He just faced a guy who didn't deserve his ranking and a guy that succumbs to pressure.

He got knocked out but in both his losses he literally put his opponents through HELL before that. Those were very competitive fights. Posting your little gif doesn't mean shit noob

This. He may not be the absolute peak of skill in the division. But his willingness to bite down on his mouthguard like nobody else in the division is a very dangerous thing to deal with for anyone considering he does carry some pretty good skills behind it. It'll put him at risk himself too of course as we've seen. But both guys that beat him were like eye lashes away from getting put to sleep themselves during their fight. One of which being a former champ, the other currently fighting in a title eliminator.

Respectfully disagree.

Poirier clearly outclassed him. He won 3 straight rounds on the cards then TKO'd him. Doesn't get much clear cut then that.

Alvarez won two straight rounds on the cards, then TKO'd him. He took damage in the process, but won that fight because he used fight IQ and JG fights on autopilot. Eddie was cartoon setting him up and clacking him, it was ridiculous.
