Has anyone watched SECRET LEVEL on Amazon Prime? (from creators of Love, Death, Robots)

Yeah that one is cool as fuck.

You seen the one with the Salamandar fighting the Necrons? I forget what it's called
Yeah, it's part 1 think of their 3 part anthology series called the Tithes. I was only able to watch tje first two. The animation isn't as good as secret level, but it was a good Slamander/Ultramarine team up, two of my fav Chapters.

I saw the one with the female Custodian, still irked by that. If you're going to change the lore so controversially, don't gaslight the fanatical fan base, and definitely don't do it without some epic lore behind it, the thing they actually do best. Above all else, don't try to sell this Heresy with a Sister of Silence in the background.

Both characters had an epic fight sequence though, but the animations were stiff overall. I feel like the creators wrent happy about the Femstodie being shoehorned in, giving everyone else more gravitas intentionally over her.

I'm up for any 40k video, just tired of these short cock teases. Can't wait to see what Cavill has cooking!!
Episode 13 - Concord

For those who don't know, Concord was an online arena shooter that Sony invested $400 million into development, and after it was released it was shut down a week later.

And after watching that episode, I can say it absolutely deserved to be shut down.

3rd worst episode. Pac-man & Outerworlds were worse.
Outer Worlds was meh. The story was mid and the character animations were shite, uncanny valley extreme.

I really like the zany world they created, very Fallout in Space, but you have to accept its a AA game with AA budgetary limitations. Its not as funny as the devs want it to be either. I'm looking forward to the sequel regardless.

Yeah, they've done it again. This Blur Studios that does these animations is a rising star. Incredible work. Reminds me of an upstart Pixar, or a reinvigorated Disney in the early 90's.

The episode set in New World (ep#3) stands out as seriously underrated when IMO nearly every episode is underrated on IMDb. What a beautiful story. It reminds me of the old Jewish allegory of the Long Spoons. And what a masterful choice to pick Arnie for the lead. Pitch perfect voice casting.

A whole lot of pantsuits in Hollywood need to take notes from the Outer Worlds episode (ep#9). That's how you do it. That's how you weave your maniacal Los Angeles anti-Capitalist politics into a tale, and make it moving-- make it compelling. That's how you win hearts and minds. Gold from straw. Also, if any of you who watched it skipped to the next episode right away, you did yourself a disservice. By far the best music in the whole series is in that post-credits scene. It's so subtle. A beautiful bow for the somber story.

It's so damn good. There's not enough high quality videos for 40k, and especially ones that capture how badass fast and deadly Space Marines are.

I watched a few others, really liked the Armored Core VI one too. So far the SM 2 one is the only doesn't have some uncanny valley going with faces. I don't normally like realistic looking CGI animations, they rarely have a feeling of weight/mass too. Maybe it's the art style, but they did an amazing job with not just the action but the faces.

They definitely took inspiration from that Astartes short film. That was the first anything 40k I've seen that made them look the way they are described in the novels. I wonder if the creator had a hand in this?

Both of these short films also captured the horrors of the Immaterium too, Lovecraftian greatness!

Interesting, I very much enjoy the W40k universe with its better written gritty books (Night lords trilogy..etc) and Astartes was true to that. this Amazon episode imo was the opposite of Astartes. Technical high level but bland generic written by classic modern writers that have little connection to the lore. It was quite visible in small details like the nonsensical sword spinning.

If they develop an animated show out of that I sadly predict it being a generic at best mediocre product. Only way I see a well executed W40k is if its made by a producer that doesnt feel the need to push their politics like Netflix and Amazon do.

I enjoyed the short Titus story in this. They gave the Space Marines a little unnecessary flair. I don't know if they can step through vehicles like that either but it was really cool.

The early portions against those humans/cultists helped establish how superior to us rabble the Space Marines are, before being brought to their knees by the sorcerer/sorceress, establishing how dangerous the warp and its entities can be.

Then of course it climaxes by showing how resilient Titus is, wrapping things up perfectly.

This is spectacle fan service for vets, while being a good introduction for newbies.

As for whatever is being made at Amazon, I hope there are more animations of this quality, and longer by this team, but I really want live action, which is what I think Cavill and his crew are working out.

There have been some memorable battles across the many books I've read/listened to, like Magnus beating that Titan practically alone, along with his thousand sons vs Russ and his Wolves. However, they're rarely my fav aspect. It's the reason/stories behind them that always intrigues me more.

I hope they go balls out and just adapt the best parts of the Horus Heresy. The first four books are ridiculously good, culiminating with Garro, Loken and the Flight of the Eisentein novel. That's a few compelling seasons right there and a good primer for why things are the way they are in the 41st millennium.

There lots of story gems scattered throughout too. I just hope you're wrong, but I'm weary of the heretical suits at Amazon trying to ruin things at every turn.

Really enjoyed the Mega Man episode. Would watch a series.

D&D & Armored Core were pretty good as well.

Finished. I'd rank the episodes as follows:

  1. Ep09, "The Company We Keep", The Outer Worlds (2019-) [specifically the upcoming 2025 sequel The Outer Worlds 2]
  2. Ep03, "The Once and Future King", New World (2021-)
  3. Ep08, "Asset Management", Armored Core (1997-)
  4. Ep04, "Xan", Unreal Tournament (1999-)
  5. Ep05, "And They Shall Know No Fear", Warhammer 40,000 (1987-)
  6. Ep06, "Circle", PAC-MAN (1980-) [specifically the upcoming Shadow Labyrinth]
  7. Ep10, "Start", Mega Man (1987-)
  8. Ep14, "The Way of All Things", Honor of Kings (2016)
  9. Ep07, "Good Conflict", Crossfire (2007)
  10. Ep12, "Tally", Spelunky (2008- )
  11. Ep02, "It Takes a LIfe", Sifu (2022)
  12. Ep01, "The Queen's Cradle," Dungeons & Dragons (Forgotten Realms universe, 1974-)
  13. Ep11, "Odyssey", Exodus (TBA)
  14. Ep15, "Fulfillment", Playstation Playtime(1994-)

The photorealism of some of the episodes, particularly the Crossfire episode, was astonishing. I didn't waste my time watching the Concord episode.
