Has anyone ever won by pile driver?

Alan Belcher kinda did to Patrick Cote

Jon Jones vs. Holly Holm I believe...

I just want to see a flying/jumping elbow-smash to a prone opponent. It would be legal and look cool!

I do wonder if PRIDE stayed around, how they'd handle stomps and soccer kicks with guys like Ngannou popping up. Ngannou soccer kicking someone square in the face would probably kill someone, literally.. Imagine the Overeem KO followed by soccer kicks before the ref jumped in. At some point they'd have to see the insanity and gotten rid of them like the UFC did before that happened right?
as you've seen its not as easy as you'd think to land as no one thinks its the shit to let someone kick them. It is a damn wonder no one has died from some of the rare times or Wanderlei holding the ropes and stomping

Someone posted this in another thread:

And that's so cool. DC could have won by pile driver. Why didn't he?
Most people dont look to paralyze their opponent.
Although you do see fighters willing to go that far..its not as common.

this is a classic pile driver. I seen Rampage try to do that to a japanese guy in pride

I seen Nate Marquardt go for it,and im not sure if they fouled him for it or not. It was in the fight with Thales Leites where he was kickin thales ass but lost cos he fouled too many times. Actually i think he went for it cos he needed a finish cos of all the points deducted

I dont think its as easy to do that as you think. The only one he really have Wanderlized with the stomps was Kondo, and he def fucked him up,but it wasnt a life or death thing. Its worse if you keep full force stomping an unconcious person,or even worse more than one person attacking...and concrete...

I think in a mma match, the ref will get in there and stop it before its ever life threatening.

All this talk of Alan Belcher... he pretty much tried to kill Okami, who was on his back.

I always wanted to see someone do a karelin slam in the Ufc wouldn't it be legal cause it is not straight down?
why would this not be legal???

Its a very strength consuming move, and is more valuable for points in wrestling than it would be in MMA (unless you get the KO) So i can understand why its less common, but perfectly legal to me imo

Also most people are not as strong as Karelin, who lifted a fridge up 8 flights of stairs every day lol

The technique is definitely legal but you don't really see it in MMA as the Karelin Lift is usually performed when the enemy is face down on the ground, which makes it fairly unreasonable to risk giving the opponent the opportunity to improve his position after a suplex when you could just attempt strangling or punching them without giving up your position instead.

Yeah I agree it wouldn't be the most efficient but it looks amazing and would be like the ultimate flex on your opponent imo.

Also sounds like the type of move some can crusher probably pulled off. Dan Severn after his prime usually played with his weaker opponents in fights.
