Fighters suffer losing runs and get cut all the time.

Sometimes it only looks harsh long after the event. I'm looking for fighters who went through a low key 'murderer's row' which simply wasn't recognised at the time.

I'll lead with Nick Ospiczak, a British welterweight who was a losing TUF semi-finalist against DaMarques Johnson, a very fun fight.

Nick beat Frank Lester and Matt Riddle (WWE), but was actually only 5-0 by this point. He then faced arguably the low key toughest opponent available at the time, Rick 'The Horror' Story, and dropped a split decision.

He surprisingly lost to Greg Soto, possibly not an overly tough fight, before drawing 30-fight veteran Duane 'Bang' Ludwig for absolutely no reason whatsoever. Again, Osipczak lost a split decision in a fight most thought he won, consigning him to 5-3 instead of 7-1.

Nick retired in 2010, only to appear again five years later beating a warm body in England, before disappearing forever from the fight circuit.

He is only 36 years old.

Who knows what would have happened if he hadn't suffered a very unfortunate 3-fight losing streak and been cut by the UFC after facing a low-key murderer's row of opponents.

Brandon Davis went 2-5 in the UFC, but three of those losses were to Zabit, Giga, and Kang. He took Giga and Kang to split decisions. Also Barzola, who isnt a slouch either.

That's the spirit!

That's a harsh run of opponents...

Back-to-back splits with Kang and Chikadze is serious!

You don't think facing the guy that took Johny Hendricks' and Gunnar Nelson's 0's, and beat Thiago Alves and Tarec Saffiedine, followed by Duane 'Bang' Ludwig is a low key murderer's row for a 5-0 dude?

I have to be honest... what?

Duane was 19-11 at the time and coming off of two losses.

Rick Story is definitely underrated and a tough fight for anyone once upon a time but not sure Ludwig qualifies. He is a much better coach than fighter.

Oh, Nick was a guy who fit the bill, I'm sure there's better...

Johnny Hendricks

the fall off after the GSP fight (and USADA)….ugh.
The easiest fighter names he faces were Tim Boetch and Neil Magny. That in and of itself is saying something.

GSP
Robbie Lawler x2
Wonderboy
Matt Brown
Magny
Gastelum
Lombard

Was going to post this. The Paulo Costa fight was just straight up cruel matchmaking

Gastelum comes to mind even though he's still (very) active. Just think he is a better fighter than his record indicates, and he has fought a murderer's row for sure.

Gastelum vs Adesanya is one of the all time great UFC fights. Sucks when one of your best fights is a loss LOL. Hespect anyways.

Not cut, but Weidman gets a lot of shit around here. Loses 3 in a row to Rockhold, Romero and Mousasi. Beats Gastelum which in hindsight is a better win than it was at the time, than goes on to lose to Jacare than Reyes up a weight class who arguably beat the GOAT, Jon Jones.

Basically all those fights besides Reyes, he was either winning or tied before the round of the finishes. No shame in losing to any of those guys

To be fair, anyone at the top of their division faces a murderers row though. *In my best Hendricks voice* Ya know what I mean?
