this is one of the most "i dont understand the sport" threads in a while. Cool.

His fat ass didn't want to cut to 170 anymore, got what he had coming
Relax lol. All I said was it was cruel matchmaking. It's hardly unique in the sport, it just stands out as a gross mismatch.

Not cut, but Weidman gets a lot of shit around here. Loses 3 in a row to Rockhold, Romero and Mousasi. Beats Gastelum which in hindsight is a better win than it was at the time, than goes on to lose to Jacare than Reyes up a weight class who arguably beat the GOAT, Jon Jones.

Basically all those fights besides Reyes, he was either winning or tied before the round of the finishes. No shame in losing to any of those guys

ahhh the classic “he was winning before he lost”. You love to see it.

Lol jk, yeah now that’s what you call a murderers row..

Jeremy Stephens must have pissed someone off at the UFC offices.

Last 5

Aldo
Zabit
Yair
Kattar
18-1 Gamrot

Haha, its all good, his laziness has always irked me; missing weight, eating like trash, blowing up like crazy between fights etc. Hell, although I'm a gsp nuthugger, even rd 5 - 70% Hendricks made me facepalm, it was his for the taking, but again, got what he deserved.

I agree the costa match was ruthless, but I loved that he got smashed cause he had no business being in there at 185 to begin with

No question he was undisciplined by pro athlete standards. In his defense, he spent his entire teenage and adult life cutting weight and most people would either be sick of it or unable to physically cut anymore after that. And he got arguably robbed for a title once or twice. Very few fighters are the same after they come close to the peak once, let alone twice.

I guess what makes the Costa fight particularly cruel was that it wasn't to steer him back to WW. He got cut after it if I recall, so it was effectively the UFC just being cruel. It's not like the organization cares about weight misses outside of title fights.

Kamal Shalorus came to the UFC undefeated. He got cut for going 0-3 against Jim Miller, Khabib, and RDA.
From what I can remember, Shalorus was a medium fish in a small pond in WEC, grinding out forgettable decisions with his decorated grappling but rudimentary striking. Once he came over to the UFC, the skill discrepancy became very apparent - while Bendo / Showtime / Cowboy / Condit / Aldo showed they were really world-class, dudes like Shalorus, Varner, Cantwell, etc got washed out. And yes, Varner had some highlights - but overall, my point still stands.

Do you guys actually remember this shit or do you just cruise fight finder, or Wiki or some shit? It all seems so random.

Ngannou lost to stipe and black beast in a row.

Hunt lost to Barnett, fedor, overeem, manhoef and mousasi all in a row.

Teh Chris went from overrated to underrated in short order. Def some bad luck there.
