Hardy's looking for super fights, and this one was the first that came to mind.

If Connor's serious about staying at a heavier weight class, this could be an interesting fight.

I always thought of Hardy, as a guy that helped pave the way for Connor.

Moreover, it would fit right into the English vs Irish rivalry. I could see them selling out a massive soccer stadium, regardless of which country it took place in.

Who do you guys think would take it?

Hardy and "super fight", in the same sentence...just lol.

How so? I've always thought that Conor murdering all the competition with highlight reel knockouts paved the way for Conor. Hardy was barely known on the Euro MMA scene.

The trash talk gimmick of a European competitor.
The rise to prominence within the UFC, as he navigated a series of nongrappling opponents.

Don't get me wrong, Conor took it to a unparalleled level.

Hardy isn't even a draw. There wasn't even a line to meet him back in the day at fitness expos. What right does he have to call for superfights?

Seems like a pretty tenuous comparison when you compare the two careers. The grappling thing is a nonsense considering that McGregor had to deal with a BJJ black belt early on and then a wrestling stylist and finished them both. And then beat another BJJ black belt to win a world championship. Far beyond Hardy's career and with a lot more finishes. I think the fact that they're both European is the only real common factor, and Europe is a big continent.

If Hardy had beaten GSP, he would've been seen as what Conor is now.
great hands, trash talking, fast tracked to title shot & awesome accent
Plenty of parallels

They faced the same number D1 wrestlers, who had full training camps, on there pathway to the title shot. ZERO. There ain't a whole lot of fighters who can say that.

Hardy was kept from Fitch and Kos, the same way Connor has been shielded from Frankie.

So? D1 wrestler is meaningless in MMA. Wasn't Mendes a D1 wrestler? No? I don't know. Suddenly we all have to examine what sports fighters did in school? Gimme a break. Fighting a "D1 wrestler" is not a criteria for anything in MMA. All those "D1 Wrestlers" went and got careers after they left school.

How many highschool pingpong champions did Werdum beat on his way to winning the title?

Conor loses two or three fights in a row and this fight becomes possible as long as Conor sticks to his steak diet.

Dont you need to have achieved a high level of success in mma to be eligible for superfights?
I like Hardy, good fighter and analyst but hardly superfight material.
