Movies Happy Gilmore 2

Just watched it. Really enjoyed it. It’s full on jump the shark comedy compared with the original which was fine by me. I loved the way they handled shooter Gavin’s character.

I don’t know two shits about real golf but apparently it adds quite a bit to the experience if you know who the people in the movie are as they are played by real golfers.

I am surprised so many people liked this flaming turd of a movie. I could go into many reasons but I don’t want to give out any spoilers.

I will say that something that happened towards the beginning of the movie ruined any chance of this movie being good.

I almost turned it off after the first 20 minutes, but once Happy got back onto the golf course it actually became pretty decent. Still nothing like the original where every scene and line was memorable, but it at least had some parts where I laughed out loud.

I guess I’m old (well I know that I’m old). This was a 5/10 for me. It falls between “it didn’t stink” and “a good movie”.

Like most movies today, Happy Gilmore 2 had some decent ideas in there that could have been fleshed out into a solid movie but it went the path of cheap references, cameos and silliness instead. Fine to watch but something I'll forget ever existed shortly after.

Loved the play on Scotty going to jail . .... again. He was a great sport about it.
All greats it seemed who are still alive were in it ........ but Tiger who I guess snubbed his cameo invite. Ffs even Jack was in it. Seemed all tve name golfers but Tiger were in it.

I enjoyed it for what it was, it was never going to match HG as it was great for its time and definitely a different time of comedy at that. I understand they needed to fill new viewers in but the very much in your face callbacks including full on "let's just show every old scene so they get it" got old quick. That full on twist swing the cartoony bad guys had got a laugh out of me each time.

The random dumb comedy at a rapid pace got some laughs out of me, what surprised me is some of the emotional beats hit. The constant cameos did feel overdone as each scene had a new one. Shooter though, its like he never left, even though he got cartoony at times with the script he felt like the same character from the original where Adam Sandler didnt feel fully like Happy throughout. Also his other nemesis that returns, perfect return to form as the scumbag character.

Towards the end when the movie was finishing up, Happy seeing his grown kids cheering and then it flashes to everyone as little kids and his wife, that hit the feels

O will say it was great but fell off alot once that Maxi tourney started - it was straight out of Caddyshack 2 it seemed. Should of been straight golf not whatever thst was like CS2

I'm wondering that the movie is getting a mixed review is simply because we've seen it before and predict whats coming.

As a big fan of the first one (at the time you still had to go rent it to the video store)this was surprisingly good. It came out today on Netflix, so it kind of went full circle.
Any fans of the first ones?
Lol gilmour

Well that movie was really fucking stupid... and totally coasting on nostalgia from the first, but not terrible.

Had some funny moments.

My only gripe with the movie was, why did the 'Jackass' guy that sabotaged Sandler's shots in the first movie, why did we need to see his 'son' do the same? Some parts in number 2 really didn't need to happen. And Chubs son is playing and teaching golf? Why the need? There was so many throwbacks to the original. Ben Stiller's character in this one I also thought wasn't a good fit. It's great they brought him back, and I love Stiller, but his part in this one was pretty boring. And, as others have said, Happy from the first movie was all out there, didn't give a fuck, this movie, he was tame as fuck.

If Stiller spoke to Sandler i.e Happy like he did this movie, in the first movie, Happy would be throwing him out the glass door like that IRS guy.

They nailed Shooter's role in this though, he was funny as fuck.

Overall, a fun movie though.

Watched the first 45ms. Still have a little over an hour left.
So far its decent.

I believe jackass guy passed away recentlyish in real life that could be why.

It was complete fan service but I was entertained. Ben Stiller steals the show, the funniest guy in the cast by far.

I liked the first one. I still watch it from time to time. I can’t say I’m super excited about the sequel, but I’ll try to watch it.

The trailer didn’t look very good. But I’ve seen trailers for movies before, especially comedies, that made them look terrible when they were actually very funny movies.

Forgetting Sarah Marshall comes to mind. I saw the trailer and thought “I’m not watching that shit.” But at some point my wife and I ended up watching it and loved it.

Really? I thought Ben Stiller's character was the worst by far. He was boring as hell.

Shooter McGavin stole the show for me, he was hilarious.

It was better than expected , I laughed a good amount of times. Stupid , simple and funny .
