Who won?

Yeah and it's called taking punches in the face, hence why there's a cut.

Excuses...
No one needs excuses in discussions with you. For a reason.

IMHO you even didn't had watched combat sport fights enough....

I didn't see the fight yet, but it was apparently a close fight, so the outcome is completely logical :

- Don't expect to win in a close fight when you're the challenger.

- At the end of the fight, Haney's face is completely clean while Loma is visibly hurt.

Haney won fair and square.

They usually give the victory to the champion in a close fight. However, the real score should have been a split or majority decision, not an unanimous one.

Judging a fight form the faces of the fighters is not a valid way. Lomachrnko has light complexion and would show bruising much more clearly. It is objectively discernible though from the tape that haney got hit much more in the head thna lomachenko did.

Lomo never had lost fight via TKO cos bleeding.
So he isn't prone to enough effective cuts.

Fighters prone to cuts usually are lads who had relatively serious damages in eyebrows area etc...
So to induce cuts oppoent should target exactly these areas not just some " face ".

However this tactique is choosed usually just if you can't win with other methods...

why were all judges american ? one of the fighters was an american and the other was not .. judges should be from countries not associated with either fighter at the very least .. having all of them be american looks quite shady .. it's akin to having all mexican judges in a canelo fight vs an american

Not sure but for an undisputed world title fight they really should've had some diversity as far as nationality is concerned. Last night at the post-fight press conference Bob Arum complained about them all being American when he's the one that could've ensured that there was diversity on the judging panel. It was his show. Loma's manager also revealed that they didn't want Moretti judging but the NSAC insisted and said that he was one of their best judges. The card he turned in last night suggests otherwise.

I scored it 7-5 Haney live and wouldn’t cry if Loma had been declared the winner.

As for answering the thread title (ie « Who won the fight ? ») Haney won it via UD.
crazy that every forum regular who knows boxing & doesn’t swing from loma’s nuts scored this the same way
lomachenko and haney were pretty even goin into the 10th. i think most can agree it could have been a draw up to then...

but it's dead clear lomachenko took the championship rounds.

lomachenko won that fight.
if you gave lomachenko the 12th round, never watch this sport again.

finally got to watch!

i am good with 7-5 either way. There were a lot of close rounds

Bingo. One word a synonym for the other.

If you are younger, with more money/potential behind you and your name is on the left side of the poster...if all three of those things happen in one fighter going into a fight, his opponent will need a KO to get a decision.
i actually think getting a KO does you great harm in terms of winning a decision.

Ok so i've watched the whole fight here :

There are some short cuts though.

Anyway, it's an easy win for Haney to me (he clearly won most of the rounds). Loma didn't do anything outside of some rare short combos in some rounds where he was more accurate than Haney.

Haney controlled the whole fight with the more powerful shots, especially on the body : you can hear his punches in the video while you don't hear anything for Loma (the sound is altered i think to avoid censhorship).

You can't expect to win a fight when you're never able to put the champion in difficulty and when you seem passive most of the fight and giving the impression you're only trying to earn some points with weak punches.

I agree it was like Pac/Bradley 1. Close fight that could have gone either way.
Watching Pac Bradley 1 I didn't think it was really that close at all. I even remember me and friends leaving the bar before decision as we all thought it was Pac easily. This fight was similar for me that way.

It was dumb of Loma to take rounds 11 and 12 off, especially when he hurt Haney in the 11th. Rookie mistake

I gave the early rounds to Haney and late rounds to Loma. It was a very close fight, slight edge to Loma landing the more solid punches. But if your the contender, you should never leave it to the judges. They usually lean towards the champion when it's a close fight like that.

Respect to both fighters, the both fought a hell of a fight.

Absolutely corruption judges. The sport is awful. You need to be a Wilder homerun hitter or else you get these robberies.

Reminds me if mma lately.

I agree. Reminds me Tito vs DE LA Hoya. These decisions were criminal.

I think Loma won, but i dont think it was a robbery like say Canelo vs.GGG 1. This fight was kinda like Canelo vs. GGG 2. Much closer than people think. However I still had Loma winning by a couple rounds.

Judging a fight form the faces of the fighters is not a valid way.

It's not the only way (obviously) but it will logically influence the judges.

It is objectively discernible though from the tape that haney got hit much more in the head thna lomachenko did.

He didn't get hit a lot and mostly from weak punches : never in trouble + clean face at the end of the fight.

Watch this video, you basically only hear the punches from Haney.

After reading all that so-called controversy, i can say that people are really biased either because they don't like Haney or because Loma has a lot of fanboys.

He didn't deserve the win, the judges were right.

forget fan boys .. people who picked haney are saying loma won .. at the very least, it should've been a draw if you're gonna rob the other guy like that .. haney himself and his team knew he might've lost by their body language waiting for the decision .. that says it all

A rematch makes most sense here doubt it occurs as Haney won't want it.

I did not hear the so called louder sounds of the body shots from.rhw audio of that clip.

In any event the sound of a body shot will always sound louder regardless of force simply because of the larger area of the glove slapping against the larger area of the torso. Haney's pushing style punches lack penetrative and concussive force because his lower torso is kineticslly disengaged fron his upper tbody whe he throws and he fails to drop or sit on his punches so they mostly derive their force from his arm and some rotation of the waist. They are more like pushes than punches.

When the head is struck, not as much sound is made even when the force is the blow is great simply because of the irregular shape of the head, the smaller surface area of both the glove and the head making contact. U can simulate this by hitting the knuckles of both fists together and slapping your palms together with the same level of force. So when lomachenko punched haney in rhe head, less noise is expected to be made but that isn't indicative of the force that is passed onto the brain.

A far better guide is how far back did haneys head get snapped back and whiplashed back on his neck. U will notice that when lomachenko got hit in the head or face by haney, his head typically isn't snapped back at all which is indicative of how weak haneys punches are. The contrary is the case wirh lomachenko.

The 80 per cent of sherdoggers who believe lomachenko won so far in the poll is indicative probably of the consensus in the industry right now.
