Should I wrap my hands underneath my MMA glove? Only ever done some wrestling and some no-gi BJJ. Starting some actual MMA training with MMA gloves, any (constructive) replies appreciated. Would be very greatful for any youtube videos for instructions on how to wrap them, I've seen many just not sure which one to follow.

I dont see why it would really be necessary unless your fighting. You shouldnt really be training with mma gloves...A nice pair of 16oz boxing gloves would be better for bag work and sparring.

You do not need to, but you may if your please. Your hands may not even fit into your gloves wrapped. I'm pretty sure most videos on how to wrap will work.

I don't think he'll be sparring just yet.

Yeah, and still no clear video/instructional how to wrap your hands for MMA. (Keeping the palm open)

Sherdog smartasses at it again.

It doesn't hurt, using a jr wrap would probably be more comfortable in MMA gloves. I have Mexican style 180 wraps for boxing gloves and 145 or w/e the Jr length is for under MMA gloves. However we do not usually go hard enough in the MMA gloves to warrant using them.

It has its uses to better simulate distance and actual glove size. I have never gone hard with them. We do something like light to the head (hit em if their hands are down to let them know) and medium-medium hard to the body.

You know what, I have my camera on me and my wraps near by, I will film myself wrapping for mma gloves with talk, and post it on youtube and in this thread Saturday PM or Sunday. If I don't someone PM me to make sure its done. I wrap in a way that focus's on the knucles and wrists and no palm coverage.

I creamed.

Do it please.

For MMA training, I still want a lot of wrist support but don't want to take the time to tape, so I usually just wrap how I usually would (180" mexicans) then use a larger sized glove to accomodate the bulk. I've never had any issue grappling with wraps on under my open palmed gloves, but I certainly HAVE had sore wrists after free-sparring without wraps.

Some of the guys in my gym will tape every time we free-spar, but about half of us just do normal wraps and keep a set of up-sized sparring gloves.

I usually do, especially if youre doing pad or bag work, if youre just doing light sparring then you could let it slide, its more of your opinion
