Movies Halloween Movie Thread?

1000031023.jpg

Couldn't go through Halloween without watching one of the GOATs.

Very few movies for me convey the same sense of dread and weird uneasiness this does.

The twins, the blood in the elevator, the creepy woman in 237, Jack's off the wall performance and Shelley Duvalls genuine terror. The weird face masks, the music, Danny's bike noise going over the floorboards. Delbert Grady. Could go on and on.

The fact there are 10s if not hundreds of YT videos breaking down what it all means is testament to what a genius Kubrick undoubtedly was. Some of the
theories are pretty fascinating too. (I like the moon landing and Wendy theories amongst others) I only wish Kubrick had made a few more horror movies in his time.

10/10

Halloween II

The last Horror movie I'll watch this Halloween season. Nowhere near as good as the OG, but still fun if one switches off one's brain.

There are some truly ridiculous elements: Haddonfield Memorial must be the quietist hospital in America, if not the world. Apart from Lauri herself, the only patients are some babies in the pediatric ward, and a kid who is treated after he sliced open his mouth on a razor blade hidden in a candy apple. The staff actually outnumber the patients!

Unlike the first movie, Lauri is no longer the tough, resourceful Final Girl in this. Which is understandable since she's dealing with multiple injuries and has been heavily sedated. Although she does still manage to shoot Michael's eyes out. Which barely slows him down.

This was meant to be Michael's last movie, and watching how he, "dies" is hilarious in regards to the movies that followed. The injuries Myers suffers would cause Wolverine's healing factor to work overtime.

7/10. Mainly because one of Michael's victims is a strong contender for Best Pair of Tits in a Horror Movie. ;)

Lol I always thought it was ridiculous how empty the hospital was but still enjoy it.

Can't bring myself to watch Dr Sleep as no matter how good it may be can't possibly be as good as The Shining. Am I missing much?

Like I told someone else Laurie would have been guarded by police on arrival and actually not been transported there anyway if a killer was still on the loose ,Lumus would be there as well knowing Myers motive is her not taking an entire movie to finally arrive there .

The original script actually made more sense but Halloween 2 is solid watch ,

It’s not a full horror movie as it shows Danny’s supernatural abilities as a grown up and others which makes it sci fi / horror it manages to have creepy elements though , it’s a very good movie that mixes supernatural and horror the old ghosts make appearances through out the movie it’s definitely a dark film because it’s based around supernatural cult that kidnaps and kills other ppl that have the Shining powers .

The movie also transcends over time it’s not a takes place in one day scenerio. You see Danny as a boy where the first one left off grow up in this basically a lot of cool flashbacks from the first one .

Ok thanks maybe I should give it a chance

The one scene with Jack Torrence ( Nicholson lookalike) does a decent job but there’s only one Jack Nicholson as only one Shelly Duval you don’t get those intense moments but they aren’t the focus of the movie , there’s only one Shining ( the mini series was not really good either ) but Doctor Sleep makes the original more solid because you realize there was a cult searching fir him to drain his life force and kill him in the first movie it adds to the already intense drama .

I just watched Rosemary's Baby for Halloween. Boring waste of time tbh.
I’d agree I haven’t watched it since the 1970”s and watched it again a few weeks ago and nothing really special I guess for it’s time it was edgy since then cult movies have definitely got better .

Had to put the original Halloween on tonight in 4K.

Here's some thoughts as I watch:

The Michael driving away so well should have been done differently but I don't hold it against Carpenter, Michael isn't Asian or a woman. But what really hit me is this, Laurie's dad says to her 'put the key under the Meyers home' and this is because Laurie and Michael are not related in any way. If her dad knew she was adopted and that was her real family, he would be kind of a dick. Although I suppose you can chalk it up they adopted the kid with no knowledge of her background but that's sort of dumb itself.

Moral of the subject is this, while the brother sister angle might have made for more sequels, in hindsight, it's dumb. Just because of this scene alone. You telling me Lauries dad is just some douchebag?

Next thing you know you're gonna tell me this whole thing was made up and it's not even real.

Lastly I finally get the opening scene where Michael stabs his sister is a homage to Psycho with how he stabs and how she reacts.

That's all. For now.

Edit: ok Laurie and Nancy were smoking weed before she sees her sheriff father, you telling me he couldn't smell it lol I can tell you personally the weed smell will be strong as can be. Sure they even mention this that he could smell it but still. Everybody would have smelled weed from the car as soon as she pulled up.

It's crazy how Michael can stand out in the open and stalk people without them even paying him any attention. He did it at the school twice, followed them in a station wagon, and he even followed Annie right to her baby sitters house as they look out in the open towards him lol Michael has a knack of being invisible. Laurie and Tommy are the only 2 to ever see him standing there. No one else does.
