Movies Halloween Movie Thread?

Ok so finally got around to watching Terrifier. Holy shit. Can see why popular.

Not much in way of plot lol but very well done for a low budget movie and some good scares. Surprised the final girl wasn't who I thought it would be. If people are saying the next 2 are much gorier I may not bother though. A gory film simply isn't scary just because it's gory.

Terrifier is like a cheap version of the original Halloween 2 (set nearly all at night, Halloween style music, stalking in almost deserted building) It's Halloween 2 on crack cocaine.

While this movie is fun and I enjoy Vincent Price in it, I prefer the original by a pretty wide margin.

I agree not scary at all just made me think of it when torture porn mentioned.

Inside and Switchblade Romance are great French horror movies imo

Agreed. Films like Martyrs just make me feel angry and depressed. I'm not into torture porn.

Watching texas chainsaw 2 for the first time.

Man this is really weird lol leatherface falls in love lol

The scene on the bridge when leather face uses the chain saw on the guys in the car next to them might seem cool but when you really think about it, it's pretty dumb lol they were driving so slow, could have sped up any time or even hit the brakes lol they were even with a truck going in reverse lol

I'm at the part where the radio dj is wearing her colleagues face and he somehow is still alive to help her escape.

The chainsaw battle was a litte entertaining and the chilli cook off storyline was interesting but overall it's the complete opposite of the first film. Its a goofy horror comedy that can be a little too silly. I was entertained where I didn't shut it off so I think it's decent at best. If I was alive at the time to have seen the original and then this is the sequel they decided to run with, I would have been mad lol but since I watched it for the first time ever I think it was average/decent/over the top/silly/entertaining at some parts.

Ill just stick with the OG and the remake over the sequel. I wouldn't watch this again but im not mad I did. To sum this movie up, they kill people to make chilli to sell to the town while leatherface falls in love.

And yes he does the humpty hump.

I think I saw Martyrs and Frontier's the same night. They don't do anything for me in a entertainment sense. Same with Philosophy of a Knife a gore/loose documentary.

There is a deleted scene "Bus Scene" for TCM2 that I wish they left in.

If you don't like torture porn don't watch this.View attachment 1066922

I liked this movie ironically I guess. Friend let me borrow it and said just watch it and didn't say anything else. But I liked the story. 1st half more than 2nd, but still thought 2nd half was interesting despite the odd turn it takes. I guess I'm just a hypocrite in some aspects when it come to movie reviews 🐸

I thought Terrifier 1 was a lot better than 2 though. 1 was eerie and ramped up the tension and violence. 2 starts with over the top violence and everything in between seems like just filler for more over the top violence.

10/14: House II: The Second Story (1987)

I'm tempted to give this a 10 based of the title alone, its the best name for a sequel I've ever heard in my whole entire life. And just like the first House, it is a fun movie as well. I never finished it the first time I tried watching it, glad I went back to it.

Watched The Substance. First off. A ton of T and A. It is a decent sci fi movie about body replacments, where an older woman clones herself. A lot of the "horror" scenes and special effects were very simaler to Basket Case. It was a decent watch until the last 15 minutes when it went into full art mode. I would give the first 2 hours a 6, and the last 15 mins a 2.

I watched this earlier with the wife. If I haven't seen a movie that has gotten some good feedback. I try not to search for spoilers/plots, I probably should have lol. The Tawaineese are leveling up their gore and depravity movies to French levels.

Friday the 13th Part III

The one where Jason finally gets his iconic Hockey Mask. Filmed in 3D, so they included as many shots as possible of things flying straight into the camera as possible. Of course, if you're watching it on a normal screen, it just looks a bit dumb.

There's a hilarious scene where Jason crushes a victim's head with his bare hands, and one of his eyes pops out and flies straight at the screen. Not only does the dummy head look fake, you can clearly see the spring launching the eye!

Not a particularly good movie; there's way too many Fake Scares, where the scene is set up to make you think Jason is about to kill someone, only for it to turn out to be someone/thing completely harmless. After a while, it gets annoying.

Just reserved my ticket to Smile 2 on Thursday

I really liked the first one, excellent jump scares and set ups. I watched it in Dolby at the theater. There were some things they could have done better but I thought it was one of the best horror films of that year.

This probably won't be as good but im still gonna give it a shot.
