International Haiti has collapsed into Cannibalism. Nayib Bukele says he can fix it

Haiti shares an island (Hispaniola) with the Dominican Republic.
yeah and they are not a fan of Haitians. They already try to keep them out. Bought some paintings from a Haitian guy there though.

My son just got back from Spring Break, he had a blast. The Domincans hate the Haitians and will not let them invade their side. Dominicans have a deep rooted hatred some say is based in racism, others say "Well take a look around"

Can confirm. My family is from DR. They hate Haitians. It's kind of sad to see cause they will even treat the children like shit.

Seems like US intervention would still be a better option than the alternative, which is the current state of lawlessness there.
The US has interfered in Haiti multiple times before for more than a century.

Did not work.

DR should be ok imo. Especially if he is staying in in Punta Cana. I drove all over that country but couldn't get into Punta Cana. I thought it was a city but it's purely a gated resort community. Wouldn't worry bud.

DR was safe as fuck. Backpacked around there for 2 weeks with a shattered shoulder I did on day 2. Cool place and people. They hated the Haitians. Massive border patrol. The Haitians are desperate and opportunistic. Can't blame them

Most places are but yeah it was great. Going up through the country was amazing. Stopped for breakfast at a hole in the wall, stopped by a guy cooking whole pig cutting with a machete and some of the best whole fish I have ever had. Funny thing though. My buddy and I were meeting there on separate flights. He met a guy on the plane and they went and got a shave and a haricut (strange but you have to know my friend). He said he would take us around Santo Domingo which was cool. He took us to a sketchy whore house. Sitting there having a beer with topless girls standing behind you was pretty odd. So I told him lets go somewhere else. Went to an even sketchier whore house where you couldnt even see the walls it was so dark. Told my bud we better take off when he hits up the bathroom. No idea where we were. But overall, the country is safe. Trying to get out of the city, we came to a dead end with some kids playing basketball on the street. Poor area but they had a little bar so we grabbed a beer and enjoyed. No issues. In general people are people everywhere. Some good and some not but most Americans who end up dead are usually someplace they shouldnt be. Haiti just happens to be terribly run and borders a much better life. Def understand both sides.

I always pictured to be like in your AV. But yeah, it was very obvious when we were there. They despise Haitians. And tbh... bought some paintings from some haitians and they did beautiful work. Just too poor bordering a touristy country imo. Everyone wants to go across to the DR.

My female friend actually enjoyed Haiti. She said it was very unique and you could see huge potential. But the nicest beaches were loaded with trash, not necessarily their fault or doing either. But essentially a country circling the drain via chaos for decades.

Yeah there's obviously that sketch vibe. But it's definitely less sketch than places that are also awesome and more "backpacked" like Colombia etc. Also awesome places. I found DR to be safe as fuck. I wad wearing a sling and looked (and was) handicapped and nobody touched me. In a bad way I mean. For the record I'm 5ft 9in and 145lbs, it's not like I looked remotely intimidating haha

Liked the "nobody touched me.... in a bad way"

I had a chance to go not long after the hurricane because my bud has a haitian friend but I cant vacation in a situation like that. I would be more apt to help. But outside of what's happening now, I would have no issue visiting the country.

Just a reminder that the people towards the bottom of the political compass, the Wokies and Don't Tread On Me! militamen, can look at the homeless/mentally ill/drug addicted zombie outbreak in major cities, BLM mayhem, the New York Subway, El Salvador before and after crackdown, Mexican cartels, and now Haiti, amongst an infinite number of examples, and think

'That looks great! We need more of that! Get the Government out of our lives and everyone will follow the NAP and live happily ever after!'

And there are millions of them, and they vote.

The 2010 earthquake didn't help matters either.

Hard to fix Haiti when people like the Clintons want it in shambles.

Perpetual mayhem assists them in trafficking out children.

Haiti got screwed for a long time by western countries like US, France. Had to pay reparations to France for their independence, took out high interest loan from US to pay France.
The US supported dictators the Duvaliers with their Tonton Macoute voodoo gang. Haiti's rice tariff was removed to follow capitalist free trade policy and the majority of its population who were farmers suffered. The US continued its foreign intervention meddling by supporting opposition to the popular president Aristide during the 1990s, by funding/protecting them through the CIA. In 2004, US soldiers sent to Haiti tacitly supported Aristide's 2nd coup by forcing him to sign a resignation letter and then flying him to Central African Republic while Haiti was under attack from armed gangs (one of them named The Cannibals, probably voodoo inspired) which came from the Dominican Republic.
Haiti is still a model of a very free market system, the Clinton Foundation tried to lure more investments and got some sweatshop factories to open shop.

In the French Empire Haiti (it was called Saint Domingue then) was the richest colony in America and one of the most profitable in the world. They had a wealthy and stable society with opera and picnics in the garden and tearooms and everything.

A computer rendition of what the Comédie du Cap opera house probably looked like.

In the end though they had a rebellion and killed all the white people who didn't flee, with great atrocity. Later the dark skinned blacks did some massacres of the mixed race people too, although I don't think they got all of them. Things haven't been great economically since then.

More Haitians coming to enrich us in 3, 2, 1...

You seem to have visited a lot of places off the beaten track. What's the most dangerous country you've been to?
