My dog Krusty pizza had to leave this world last night.

He was 16 years old. He had a really good life. I found him in the brush in south Texas. He was a wee pup someone just left on the side of the road to die. I saw him and picked him up and took him home. I always joke with my wife that he was half coyote. I finished my shift and dipped his flea and tick bag ass in some quality dip.

I don't train my dogs to do tricks, I just teach them how to socialize with people and live within my rules. He was a good gentle guy who was an asshole at times. He was a sneaky bastard who knew when you weren't paying attention and would steal shit. He knew I hated that shit. I would try everything to stop him from jumping on the table and taking food when he knew I wasn't paying attention. Fucker stole some steaks I was preparing for the grill one time when I left the room. He was super smart and knew when he could get away with it.

When he was a young guy he would jump a 6 ft fence to meet me when I drove into the driveway. He wouldn't jump to escape, just to come say hi to me. The times he would run off he would go around the block then come straight home. I never worried about him. He was really healthy and really smart his entire life.

He had to adjust to the kids when my wife and I had them. He wasn't mean or snap at the kids he just kept his distance at first. He finally warmed up to them and then they would do shit to him that annoyed him, he would just go into his crate and be alone.

He was a dogs dog. He loved other dogs and my retrievers loved him and he loved them. He was a terrier and blue heeler mix. He was very athletic when he was young.

He was getting old and finally last week he was falling off balance. I kept my eye on him and yesterday morning he shit his crate and vomitted in there. I took him out and he couldn't stand right. He was swaying like he was drunk. I had never seen him like that. I took him to the vet and they said he had some neurological damage and an Mri could pin point what was wrong. My dog was 16 years old. I wasn't going to do that I know he is old and I promised myself and him that I would never let him suffer.
It's a hard decision to make but I couldn't see him like that anymore. It broke my heart.

We took him to the vet and he left this world at 6:05 pm central standard time. RIP Krusty pizza you were an asshole at times but I loved you dearly.

Thanks. It was a hard decision to make for sure but I know in my heart it was the right one.

i just recently put my doge down as well...he was 16

tough thing to do but it was time

Sorry to hear that. Having grown up on a farm and still farming the same place at 40, I’ve grown numb to a lot of things. But not that. It sucks and it always will .

I thought I had grown numb to a lot of things and thought I was ready for him to go. I mean I have buried aunts, uncles, grandparents. When it happened I just started to cry. I couldn't help it the tears just started.

I'm so sorry for your loss. Stay strong and time will heal what you're feeling right now.

Genuinely sorry for your loss. I've made this decision myself 3 times already, and it never gets any easier. Just a few months ago I put my girl Daisy down after a long battle with cancer. I cried like a baby and probably scared a few owners out in the waiting area.

fuck, man, that's horrible. Sorry for you loss, I can tell that you truly loved him.
he's in a better place now.

Sorry to hear man. Never easy. He sounded like a great dog and you are a great owner.

I lost my dog in a very similar manner not to long ago. He had a tumor that was interfering with his vestibular nerve so he would be unbalanced and walk into walls and shit. These little guys are our family and they genuinely love you if you treat them well. They remind us about the finer aspects of life in such a condensed ammount of time and they will go above and beyond for you. Rip to your dog he sounds like such a good boy.

Sorry man , krusty sounds like he was a cool dude.

You're lucky you got 16 years, what breed of dog was he?

My cat of 19 years (20 in October) got sick last Saturday and just stopped eating, drinking and had trouble sleeping aside from the hip problems she had the last year or two.

Kidney disease apparently.

She's getting better but... Yeah. We're going to be putting her down the next time she stops eating. I think we got a week or so.

Gonna be months before I can sleep without her curled up next to me.

Is having the vet "euthanize" your pet the normal thing now? I would want to take my animals out in the country to shoot them. It just seems like the right way to do it.

Honestly I was tempted to do just that but I wanted him to go peaceful. If I hit him wrong with my bullet would be more suffering on his part. At the vet he lays down while I pet him and he just goes to sleep, no violent acts or accidents.

Just buried a dog of 12 years last month or so. I waited too long to put him down because I was selfish. We buried him in the garden.

I would suggest one of those engraved stones you can get online as a headstone.
