I ask because the architect of the Neoreactionary movement, Curtis Yarvin, seems to think so.

For my part, I'm taking no sides. I simply hope that Yarvin's stress is causing him ulcers.

We’ll see how hard they get checked in the midterms.
With our fucked up media, the elections are the only indicator.
Sometimes those a wonky, too.

I think so, but regardless, the changes needed in this country go beyond the present regime and are responsible for it. The decades of neoliberalism have come home to roost. Hopefully Trump is the impetus we need to get on track but I'm not holdling my breath.

Trump only cares for himself, and since he can’t run for a 3rd term, he’ll piss everyone off to get another dollar in his pocket

"Can't"

I'm skeptical of this. Constitutionally, he shouldn't be and to, but he doesn't give a flying fuck about the Constitution, and the federal judiciary and legislature seem content to allow him to flout the Constitution. I really hope that he croaks before this becomes an issue, but if he doesn't, he will at least try to run for a 3rd term.

Why bother even running? We're seeing that the majority leader can just refuse to swear people in, so elections will be pretty much useless once this tactic yields zero consequences.

Possibly, but the one thing he has going for him is no one likes the Dems right now except for their dedicated core base. Support for them is at an all time low.

Probably but its just a response to extremism from the other direction.
The trade war, for example. Sure, its been pretty dramatic and ham fisted but then you look back at what the US has lost over the past 30 years, it was inevitable. We've lost everything. Should we be content to just say "well we had a good run" while everyone else profits from what we lost? Especially when factoring in what we give the rest of the world in foreign aid.
Illegals immigrants, sure the mass deportations are a bad optic but its an issue that been allowed to fester for decades with no thought to effect its having on some communities and society in general.

I think that article is the biggest load of pseudo-intellectual babble I've ever read.

Impressive.

The pendulum always swings too far. The good thing is, nothing lasts forever.

Same reason why Putin still has elections. Or why Hitler called for an election immediately after he banned his opposition. Or why Augustus Caesar didn't dissolve the Senate after he became emperor. Dictators need to maintain the veneer of popular support.
