Had a waiter confront me outside over a tip

I was just curious, not trying to "get you" so calm down.
Good luck on that potential gig. Hope you reported your last boss
Oh my bad, this thread has been of ppl telling me I should die, I have shitty parents, and they servers start jizzing in my food so I just figured you were being a dick lol

I can't really report her lol, she owns the business.

I did have a chat with some other co-workers on the phone and they did say that I should go ahead and put that place of business on my resume and that my former boss said she'd play a long that I left voluntarily if a new employer called.

And I did, and I guess she did because I start my new job next month, unless they didn't even call her.

Im an asshole, but not that bad of one to wish harm on someone else. I did tell a forum admin here to go fuck themself, so thats about as bad as I got.

Anyways, good luck with everything

tipping should be optional. Pay the waiter right wages and this won't matter

If he really put his hands on you over that, you have to go fuck his entire family.

But seriously, that waiter is a dumbass.

Tipping culture is bullshit. I'm glad I have lived in England/Japan where we don't have this shit.

If I want to give someone more money for something, then that's my choice, it shouldn't be a "moral obligation".

Sure. Why not? People aren't nice, people don't give a fuck, I don't know why people believe servers won't fuck with your food or drinks? The only people who have a hard time accepting this are those that tip poorly or are rude because they hate hearing they have more than likely ingested something unsavory.

So I ask again, you think it's acceptable to spit or contaminate a customer's food which could cause them to be sick because they didn't tip you what you thought was warranted? What do you think would be an acceptable retaliation towards you by the customer if they ever found out?

Also you stated you make 52k as a server, how much of the tips do you report? I'm going to assume not 100% and far from it, but you can prove me wrong.

Lastly, would you still want the job if you would have to declare your entire income, as not reporting it is essentially stealing?

God fucking damn I can't read this thread without going red in the face. If that shit would have happened here that waiter would be having words with the police after being fired and the proprietor of said restaurant would be offering a free meal at the very least.

You are right, as a safe fail they should be compensated minimum wage if they didn't make enough in tips. That being said how long would a restraunt keep someone who they had to pay more out of pocket for? Your argument fails in that very way. They aren't relying on the restraunt to make that up, all servers undoubtedly make more than minimum wage. It doesn't change the fact that we will remember you and we will fuck with your shit.

What I said is right and what he said is wrong.

As for my argument against your system, you just proved my point about American tipping/extortion with the above.

Completely wrong on all accounts. Most wait staff do not make minimum wage. Prob make $3-4 an hour. So you're wrong right there

No, they don't. You are wrong. There is not a single legal American worker in the entire USA making less than minimum wage. By law if they make less than minimum wage with their salary + tips, their employer has to make up the difference.

Soooo you're wrong there.

I don't know how many restaurants you know where restaurant workers make less than min wage including tips. Those places wouldn't even be in business.

Most restaurants, at least in nj, the wait staff is making $3-$4 an hour plus their tips because no place that's open for business has wait staff making under min wage plus tips.

I'm invested in restaurants currently and don't know of one restaurant where wait staff makes less than min wage.

Even corporate spots like a Chillis pays $4 an hour.
