Just bought house, it's a two story with a steep roof and a leaf problem.

I'm thinking I can just leaf blow/scoop the garage gutters twice a year, but getting up to my home roof would take a 28 foot ladder and even then I'm a bit queasy at that much a pitched roof with a leaf blower in hand or bending over to drill in and install some sort of gutter guard myself. Got a quote of $350 to install RX Gutter guards which I don't think is bad considering I'd need about $350 to buy an extension ladder tall enough to get up

Anyone have experience with this style of gutter guard? Got some tall ass trees in my backyard the previous owner even declared in the sale that when the south gutter gets clogged and water overflows, it'll run into my basement egress window. So wanting to avoid that, but also don't want to be up on that roof so frequently.

I own a gutter company. Lucky you. On something that high up you should use a helmet style system.
That installer is cheap. He should be able to source the different style cover.

Helmet style? Like the LeafGuard brandname where it's solid plastic and water rolls over then adheres to the bend in as it drops to the gutter? Or something else?

In a heavy rain and a steep roof, the water jumps over that edge, at least as far as the rain from NY..maybe water responds different in certain states. You also don’t want a system that is a PITA to open if needed..Birds, Bees, and fine debris will find a way in, maybe not this year, but you will have to access the gutter..

I was sitting in the edge of my roof of our house when we lived on the east coast. I'd clean the junk out of the gutter then put my hands down and scoot down the line, I remember putting my right hand down and a searing white hot pain shot thru my hand. I looked down to my horror and saw a nest of pissed off wasps boiling out from under the shingles.
Not sure how I did I, but I flew down the ladder and made my escape. TLDR, Just get the gutter guards and save yourself the hassle.

Get a second quote from the TV commercial gutter shield. I'm guessing sooner or later the plastic will break apart.

I found them handy in my last house as they would keep the leaves out of the gutter, like they’re supposed to.

They work pretty damn good. I was skeptical at first, I have a number of mature coniferous trees close to my house and I was worried the holes would be too large to keep the needles out, but they work like a hot damn and almost nothing gets through. Just blast off the needles with a hose and pound some water in there to purge anything that made it through and you're done. 5 years now and no problems yet, and cut my gutter cleaning time from over an hour to about 15 minutes, saving me valuable time that could be spent shitposting.

Just get larger gutters with 3" x 4" or 4" x 6" downspouts that the leaves can go through. They work great. Check with a gutter company to see if they can install larger downspouts on your existing gutters.
