I thought the US had the highest prison population in the world and some of the longest penalties?

That doesn't say much when other countries turn murders lose after a few years. And federal gun crimes don't get much and the state gives less especially in liberal states.

We do need reforms especially with simple possession on drugs.

I'm not interested in emulating any other country or their laws. I'm perfectly happy with the freedom we have now. I'm sorry for people who have had something horrible happen in their lives related to guns, but that's no reason to expect everyone else to cater to their needs/fears.

I don't care what freedoms they give up. Just about every other country has more restricted laws on freedoms of speech.

And plenty on the left would like it to be the same here. Where the cops come and take you to jail for something non violent said on the internet.

Thankfully we have the 1st and 2nd amendment to try and prevent that. We have plenty of gun control it's time we did more criminal control when it comes to guns.
