GSP vs Silva

hes gone 4-4 since the gsp fight and truthfully he lost that fight to seth baczunski and Jordan Mein was beating the fucking piss out of him before gassing and getting caught. THat was an EPIC comeback by thiago but he looked completely lost in that fight and threw some hail mary shit.

My point is that Thiago isnt a good fighter at all. His wins were against guys all on their way out or down.

Koscheck had a day to prepare for that fight he stepped im fpr someone I forgot who.
Karo never won a ufc fight after that and has been absolute bat crazy shit since 2008.
Hughes was already close to 40 and done.
Lytle is a warrior always was a tough fight cant shit on that win at all.

Alves was never that good.
Koscheck stepped in for Diego Sanchez. I was pumped for Sanchez vs Alvevs. That would have been a crazy fight and I'm sad it never came to fruition.

And I said Alves LOOKED like a world beater. His Muay Thai was top notch and his TDD looked to be peaking (he made Hughes pay for a TD attempt with a brutal knee KO). The point I was making was it was originally said that he was ducking Silva for easier fights with Alves and Hardy, I don't think at that point in time Alves was an easy fight for anyone. But then GSP schooled Alves and he's been 4-4 since.

That's BS. The UFC just used that as an excuse not to make the fight… I mean… C'mon dude: "Oh we're going to sacrifice millions just to 'punish' Anderson"… GTFO Dana lol…

Dana has been making excuses not to put that fight together for years. GSP has had his fair share including 'claiming' Anderson was cutting from 230lb lol. At the end of the day, you can point to a million reasons why that fight was never made, but not a single reason can be blamed on the Spider.
As much as i don't believe anything Dana says why did they fly GSP over for the event then .
you are probably right but the UFC I think is also the company that cuts it's face to spite it's nose

This fight will never happen. GSP vs Robbie sounds good tho. Silva needs to get back to actively fighting for a last run at 185.

gsp could have made that fght happen he chose to fight such titans of the sport like Thiago Alves and DAn Hardy.

Yes. They were the greatest of great fighters from the extremely tough WW division.
It's hard to finish guys of that caliber. That's why we have never seen either of them subbed or beaten by strikes. Crème de la crème.

GSP could have made the Anderson-GSP fight happen by going up in weight. Anderson could have made the Anderson-Jones fight happen by going up in weight. Jones could have made the Jones-Cain fight happen by going up in weight. Sense a pattern?

Lighter dominant champs, with the single exception of BJ Penn, do not go up in weight to fight current heavier dominant champs. Barao didn't want to fight Aldo. GSP didn't want to fight Anderson. Anderson didn't want to fight Jones. Jones didn't want to fight Cain.

With good reason to be fair. The champ in the weight class above you almost certainly has a significant size advantage on you, and they are going to be skilled if they're a defending champ. As a dominant champ that feels unbeatable, the worst thing you can do is set yourself up for a brutal loss against a bigger guy.

Why do they do half the things they do… It's all smoke and mirrors. That isn't the first Anderson fight that GSP has been at. Guaranteed, even if Anderson KO'd Maia in one round, they would talk about the fight, Dana would say how he'd love to put it together, then all of a sudden, 'something' would come up.

Don't lump Alves in with Hardy.

At the time, Alves was the top contender in the division (save for Fitch).
True. Alves was on a great streak, had superb takedown defense, knockout power...while he was the underdog, a lot of people thought he had a legitimate shot at taking the belt.

it was going to happen but because of Anderson's clowning around the fight didn't get put together

This is the biggest load of horseshit.

I could see Dana "punishing" Anderson temporarily but not for years after years after years.

GSP never really wanted that fight so Dana said whatever he had to say to help him save face in the long run.

It was either that or state the obvious which was that GSP was scared and ducked him.

Now that GSP bailed out, Dana is finally just coming clean about the truth, hence recently stating that Conor did what GSP would never do by moving up weight classes.

Alves was ranked #3 when he fought GSP. Hardy was #4.

Hardy didn't deserve that ranking IMO.

A split over Marcus Davis and a UD against Swick were his only notable wins.

Hardy's trash talk got him that GSP title shot.

you make another very valid point .
I guess im just blinded by my GSP fandom and the desire to see this fight back in the day

Yes but as another person stated that when i said that this fight was going to happen is that Dana says a lot of thing many of them not true .
At this point in time he's in Love with Conor so he's going to say anything to Make Conor look like the greatest even after a loss . Also the way Dana shat all over GSP post Hendrick's I'm not surprised that he's not saying positive things about GSP

Yet rumors abound about GSP making a comeback.

It would be strange to shit on him during negotiations.

The bottom line is that using the Maia/Anderson fight as an excuse as to why this fight NEVER happened is erroneous.

At the very least, it would have delayed the fight temporarily.

Let's be real here, if GSP had TRULY wanted that fight, it would have happened at some point before or after the Abu Dhabi performance.

If Dana wasn't too scared to risk Conor losing to Nate then he would have taken the same risk with GSP.

He didn't, so it's fair to assume that GSP was the one blocking the deal.

Hindsight is 20/20.

Back when Alves fought GSP 6 years, yes Alves was a legit contender.
A lot of ppl thought Alves was going to win that fight, he had just ripped Hughes's head completely off with a flying knee.
