If GSP hadn't retired after his beating from Hendricks, would he have gotten past Lawler?

IMO Lawer beats him worse than Hendricks did.

At that time in his career, I would pick Lawler, but that was not the best GSP. That was also not the best Lawler.

Prime Strike Force Lawler vs Prime GSP, I would give the slight Edge to GSP, even if Lawler was a mw. That would still have been a tough fight for both.

would have been interesting fight but id favor GSP. better fight iq and lawler's wrestling not nearly as strong as hendricks. GSP would have eventually took him to the ground and keeps him there.

GSP would have neutralized Lawler with the jab and had him second guessing every engagement. GSP unanimous decision....

Obviously GSP would be the favorite.
Hell I'd go as far as to say if they were to schedule this fight TODAY GSP would still be the favorite.

I just don't see where Lawler beats him. He'll get jabbed to death and taken down. Sure if we talk about GSP as his worst then maybe Lawler beats him

I believe one of the reasons Hendricks gave St. Pierre such a tough fight is the fact that he's a southpaw, and the hand fighting helped to neutralize GSP's jab. Combine that with his strong wrestling, and you have a terrible matchup for GSP. Lawler may have been able to duplicate the hand fighting to stymie the jab, but I don't know if his takedown defense would have held up as well as Hendricks'.

Love GSP, but BS to that, after the Hendricks fight, no way would he be favorite over Lawler.

Lol, prime Strikeforce Lawler was a welterweight that didn't wanted to cut the weight and had an okay 185 run. I mean come on, Lawler came into his own in his return to the ufc and 170 devision.

His Strikeforce run wasn't very successful, it's weird to consider it his prime when he got all his best wins later.
Nah. He got his wins in the UFC later, so his opponents were marketed more. Not better. And it was a different weight class.

He was champ at 185 And at 170, so he did pretty good in both. The guys he lost to in the end of Strikeforce were much tougher than the guys he beat at 170 in the UFC.

GSP's jab didn't work nearly as well on Hendricks mainly because he is a southpaw and a skilled striker with more power, the same would be true in a GSP vs Lawler fight. It's also why Rory's jab wasn't very effective against Lawler in both of their fights. If you are an orthdox fighter you generally don't want to jab a southpaw a lot, it's a good way to get countered with bigger shots.

Lawler IMO would shut down the jab like Hendricks did. He was able to do it against Rory both fights and his TDD isn't as good as Hendricks' but he was very good at preventing damage on the ground and getting back to his feet quickly which he showed in his fights with Rory and Hendricks, Ellenberger and Koscheck.

GSP all day. I like Lawler a lot, and if he could keep it on the feet, he would have a real good chance of winning. However, GSP is better at all other phases of the game, and can hold his own standing. Lawler's only hope is an early KO, and if I am correct, GSP has only been KO'd once in 28 fights. If they fought 10 times, I would pick Robbie to win MAYBE 2 times.

gsp. i think he would have been extremely careful and technical in this one. I dont think its comparable to hendricks lawler or hendricks gsp.
