Throwback GSP vs Bisping revisited

Alright then. You are giving GSP a ton of credit for beating a one-eyed man.. 🤣
No I'm not. Evident by the it was what it was comment. Jesus christ you GSP haters are the most irrational people ever. Lol

The fight is what it is.

Bisping made it to the top at an old age and had young killers in the division. GSP was looking for a great opportunity to return with a lot of reward and calculated risk. GSP had trained with Bisping before so he knew exactly what he was getting himself into, that and supposedly the eye injury. He knew about it

Leading up to the fight GSP said he was going to defend but I never, ever believed what he said with every fiber in my body. His whole philosophy post Serra was to be risk adverse.

I imagine had he fought Khabib fans would've had a different opinion tho

I never blamed either guy for what transpired. You got to look out for number one because the UFC won't

I just remember GSP not looking good at 185. He didn't carry the extra weight well. I also remember him tiring, which wasn't normal and probably due to the weight gain and ring rust. Bisping was game, but GSP still found a way to win and get the finish.

He had one eye when he beat Belcher, Le, Hendo, Anderson, Luke among others. Was GSP supposed to choose a non champion MW? Jacare turned down Luke, Yoel would have missed weight.

Sat out years to wait for a weak MW champ who just so happened to have one working eye. Georges is awesome. One of the best fighters of all time. All of the aforementioned can be true.

Legends! I wish we saw more MW fights after from GSP, but anyways good to see him win another belt and leave on his terms.

Just keep pretending GSP was anywhere near his prime and not retired for 4 years leading into the fight. This wasn't a prime Henry Cejudo as champion politicking his way to fighting a guy who wasnt even a legit top10 anymore, basically retired Cruz as his title defense.

All of the aforementioned can be true but you seem to love omitting these facts

Bisping had one eye. Georges was a confirmed cherry picker. It is what it is.
Pfffff

Moving up is moving up, and after a long layoff mind you, and he had to work his ass off to get that belt

That is true. He still cherry picked a weak one eyed title holder. Thanks for your attention to this matter.

Same guy that still beat Anderson Silva, Luke Rockhold and Dan Henderson back to back to back. Thanks for letting me tell the whole story

Mike probably should have lost that decision against an ancient and unranked Henderson who he cherry picked. Herb likely should have called the fight against ancient Anderson after the knee against the cage but he did look good for half of that fight against a 40 year old post leg break Silva. I'll always give Bisping his respect for helping create Rocksalt and overcoming the odds in that rematch.

Georges still sat out for years and cherry picked a one eyed champion for a payday and to stat pad. Good for him. Thanks for letting me elaborate. You can have the last word if it'll make you feel better, bud.

No fighter is taking off 4 years without it seriously impacting their game. GSP at 185lbs looked EXACTLY what he spent years telling everyone he would look like.

Everyone.

He told everyone he wasn't built for MW. Everyone chalked it up to him being scared to fight Anderson. Let's be real. It was never about anything other than GSP being "publicly scared" of the Spider. The MW champ chases a fight with the WW champ, yet everyone shits on the WW for ducking a catchweight or middleweight fight with Anderson.

I still firmly believe at that time, the Spider that pieced up Griffin would have easily won the LHW title. The pressure was ALWAYS on Georges to move up, much less hate accorded Silva trying to fight down, and Jones luckily skirting by with excuses as to why he dodged Silva's eye. And admittedly, I never even would have given GSP a hope in hell over beating Anderson.

Until I watched Sonnen clown Anderson for 24 and a half minutes. Could a prime GSP have done the job and heard the final bell?

As far as GSP cherry-picking a weak champ goes, let's stop pretending that exact same thing hasn't been done by other fan favourite fighters with much less haterade. GSP moved up after 4 years off and beat a physically larger person.

Let us also not forget it was Dana himself who even let the break get to be 4 years long. GSP spent quite a bit of time telling people he wanted to come back. It was Dana saying GSP didn't want to fight. So if in the end... if GSP really did fuck Dana and the UFC over on purpose (which I don't believe)... but if he fucked them over on purpose?

<JonesDXSuckIt>

Couldn't happent to a nicer person than Dana. Jon bent the knee. Conor bent the knee. The GOAT went out on his terms, not the UFC's.

I have never respected that fight.
GSP retired a champ at 170.
When he chose to return to the UFC, there was a new dominant champ at 170 called Tyron Woodley.
GSP should have fought Woodley to re-establish the 170 championship line.
In my feelings, GSP vs Bisping might as well been GSP vs a cripple.
Handicap match in favor of GSP.

Lmfao. Ok white belt..

What purpose would GSP have to come back to the division he dominated and cleared out..

The whole point was he was coming back to do something he's never done before ... Otherwise you stay retired as the welterweight goat easy decision

It was competitive and nobody should be surprised.

Bisping was still active and in fight shape and GSP came back after years of retirement and going up.

Nevertheless GSP beat him fair and squair.
