GSP Couldn't Finish 1 Week Water Fast

That’s interesting...The bone broth hadn’t even crossed my mind. I’m all about stomach health these days; I make my own sauerkraut and kombucha. I might try this starting tomorrow and I’ll report back. Do you still drink bone broth currently to keep up with the gut health?

I don’t really. After I did it my appetite shrunk and I think the craving to constantly eat or snack was minimized and I think that was the source of the problem. Years of stuffing my face to help pass the time.
 
1 week is far too long

2 days is the longest you should be fasting imo, doing it any longer won't render any further benefits.
 
I always assume that people who fast more than 2 days don't mention that they are eating something, like apples / greens / less than 500 calories, etc.

It depends on how fat you are. Someone like GSP would likely start catabolizing muscle on a fast that long, but someone who is obese will easily be able to fast much longer than that losing mostly just fat. The fast itself isn't nearly as dangerous as people think it is- the real issue is when you refeed. There's a condition known as refeeding syndrome that's caused when you eat too much after a long fast and can be lethal.

I did water fasting for about 14 hours. Woke up at 2am hungry as fuck and then went and got McDonalds.

i dont think there is any debate whether fasting is scientifically proven to be beneficial to people. that is a fact. what is unproven, is that fasting beyond 3-4 days or so has any added benefits. most will say the diminishing returns are simply not worth it. especially considering after that time frame there will be a lot more muscle loss.

I tend to agree, especially for the average healthy person. Who wants to lose that much muscle mass? Not me. If you look at some of these hardcore CR/fasting guys they look like anorexic girls. Having muscle makes you more resilient to injury, and there seems to be tons of downstream benefits to having a high muscle mass index. It is a predictor for longevity in adults and in things like cancer survival rates.

There may be certain cases where a medically supervised extended fast is beneficial for certain conditions though, like hypertension for example.

you're criticizing a man that had accepted defeat. this man came back and avenged his loss and has also achieved goat status. maybe if he didn't tap and John wasn't there to rescue him he would have got retired....
 
Only drinking water for 5 days? So not taking in any protein, carbs, fat, vitamins etc. that’s a GREAT way to lose any and all muscle you have. Muscle is so much harder to gain than to lose.

I guess I just don’t get it.

i hear ya man... but if you're in the gym 4 hours a day training with scary dudes you're gonna get built. i don't think they worry much about the muscle loss
 
7 day fasts are for fatties, not for jacked monsters like GSP

4 days into my water fast and this is the best I've ever looked, I did omad for a 6 weeks before starting the water fast

Because a fast every now and then will make you healthier, have lower bodyfat, and look better if you do it properly.
