GSP continues to be the greatest WW of all time by leaps and bounds

He beat Woodley, Colby x2, Leon, Strickland, RDA, Burns, Maia, Jorge x2, without getting Matt Serra'd on the way. So yes, he was, like I said, 3-4 more wins away from having an argument. The fact you took that level of issue with a post saying someone got derailed 3-4 fights from being at GSPs level suggests you need to get his nuts out of your mouth.

My point stands. The road to the title is way different than defending it and in 5 fights he faced 3 guys in his run as a champ, whereas GSP faced 10 guys not counting rematches and every loss he won it back. Usman had the chance but Leon is better. I'm not a GSP nuthugger, i'm saying facts and i believe he lost the Hendricks fight but it was very close.

No fucking chance. At 42 years old, having fought just once in the last decade? By the way GSP has had double knee surgery.

Remember guys at 170lbs through 125lbs in UFC championship fights the record is 2 wins and 33 losses for fighters age 35 or older.
GSP would hit them with a double flying knee after double knee surgery.
Like his groin

Yeah it's not even close. Usman beat Masvidal and Colby twice, that's all but one of his title defenses. And his title eliminator fight was against a past his prime LW.

Fighters in general back in the day were complete martial artists.

Big Facts.

That dude obviously has a hard on for GSP.

He must of forgot how GSP got KO'ed by a midget, subbed by one dimensional Matt Hughes, lost to Hendricks.

Oh and was caught greasing.

I always said it and people were saying Tyron Woodley would have crushed him at the time...

Skill for skill GSP just would just double these guys at will. Stay at range with teh superman jab and low kick for a 50 - 45

GSP still the goat and most dynamic fighter. The definition of mixed martial artist. Can strike, can takedown, can defend, can pass guard like no other, can control, can submit, can GnP. He could do it all.

Not to mention had flashy moves and spinning kicks that you don't see today's guys do.

Usman, Woodley and Colby all have wrestling but can't even pass guard man.

Don't meant to nut hug GSP lol but he literally embodied mixed martial arts. Was never one dimensional.

I love Leon and think he can reign as champ for long time. But prime GSP would have 50 - 45'd him.
GSP's power-double, which often started near the middle of the cage and included bouncing his victim off the fence, especially pre-knee-surgery, was unstoppable and a bit difficult to wrap your head around, when seeing it.

And he wasn't a one-trick pony. I agree, no one else has a case for WW GOAT.

Strickland and Edwards weren't even ranked and weren't in their prime when Usman beat them, Woodley was checked out at the end of his career, Jorge was a journeyman and past his prime, Maia was 41, and who has Colby beat other than than washed big names and LW RDA?

Burns is Usman's best win imo

So you're trying to discredit the Strickland and Leon wins because they werent champs yet, but also simultaneously trying to discredit the Woodley win on the basis that he went on to lose a lot AFTER Usman beat him?

The guy has a very good resume.

GSP had by far the most complete skillset, elite everywhere, plus great athleticism and conditioning, one of the highest fight IQs, unsurpassed discipline and preparation. A real martial artist and the most professional of professional fighters.

Prime GSP dominated two generations and would absolutely dominate the current one too.

Even today’s post surgery, retired, 42yo GSP, would be top-5 IMO.

Is that you, BJ?

No, I'm just stating facts! Strickland and Leon were not the same fighters back when Usman beat them as they are today, and Woodley was clearly checked out when Usman beat him.

Phil Davis didn't beat a prime Alexander Gustafsson, GSP clearly didn't beat a prime Bisping, and Usman clearly didn't beat a prime Woodley.

Prime GSP would still be champion today with his diverse skill set. Guys these days look more one dimensional with few exceptions.

Im mean cmon yall, GSP was all Natty while JJ was sauced up. It was just GSP's stunt double to the right which raised the eyebrow

I mean, GSP is a legend no doubt and skill wise he is one of the most complete fighters ever (for me it's between him, Jones, and DJ for most complete MMA fighter ever) but the thing is the caliber of fighters in GSP's day just weren't the same as they are now. The average fighter now is stronger, faster, hit harder, have better cardio, are better trained, have better wrestling, better striking, better BJJ, and are far more well-rounded than the average fighter back then.
As much as I think Colby is an ass, Leon's win over him alone is more impressive than any of GSP's wins if we're being honest lol.
Someone like Leon would have doubt beaten everyone GSP beat if he was around back then, likely with ease TBH. On the other hand is debatable if GSP could beat everyone Leon best. If he could it certainly wouldn't be easy.
I think GSP could still be a champ if he was in his prime today, but I have my doubts that he would be as dominant as he was back then. Too many killers around now.

Did you really think Usman was near GSP with 5 fights with the same 2 guys? GTFO GSP is still the WW GOAT.

Well, yah lol. Under the assumption he would get another 4 title defenses he would be right up there with GSP. He would match him with 9 defences. How can they no tbe comparable?
