**GSP confirms contract negotiations with UFC**

Didn't their stock drop after Speith choked at the Masters? But yeah Under Armour has the best player in football in Cam Newton and the best player in basketball in Steph Curry and their stuff is nice and comfortable. UFC should have tried to get them.

a short term price drop doesnt matter. stocks go up and down all the time. it has no affect on the long term prospects of the company. spieth choking(freakin sucked i like the guy) but is not a long term event. he is still the best long term golf prospect and is only 22 years old right now.

they have tom brady(and his wife), cam newton, steph curry, jordan spieth, saul alvarez, the Rock plus many other athletes. they have a roster of young stars built for the future.

I will be glad to be impressed.

It's weird because given how much time has passed you tend to forget how large a brand GSP was, during his fights you'd see people with the bandanas or little kids wearing GSP gi's.

He is one of the guys who the Reebok deal is specifically bad for given he is one of the very few fighters i can think of who sold merchandise specific to him (Not counting Reebok kits with the fighters name on them) except for maybe Hardy selling Bandito masks.

If he did fight out his contract he really could go to Bellator and make crazy coin

LOL you really think Bellator would fork out the money to get GSP? He isn't Bendo or Mitrione were a few hundred thousand is a great deal. Bellator won't pay any of their guys the 5 million plus it would take to get GSP. And GSP makes most of his sponsorship money outside of the ring (which he can still do in the UFC) so i doubt his fight week sponsors would be even close to making up the difference in Bellator. They can't offer him PPV points. If GSP is coming back, its to the UFC

I don't think he really needs the money. He's worth 20 or 30 million, more than enough to live out his life. I think he wants to fight because for some reason professional athletes have a horrible time quitting. Think of how many athletes you've seen come out of retirement over the years, in every major sport. It generally doesn't work out very well for them either and yet they do it anyway.

GSP tryna' get paid like a mofo since he can't get legit sponsor money.

Pay the man, UFC.

He is one of the few guys that is not as effected by the Reebok deal. He still loses money, but the Reebok deal is only for fight week and GSP makes the majority of his sponsorship money outside of fight week

GSP fought out his contract? No wonder Dana was so pissed about the Hendricks decision. That was more than just him thinking Hendricks edged it out. GSP fought his contract out and kept the belt putting him in a very slick position for negotiations on a new contract or even leave if he wanted to and sign somewhere else even though it's highly unlikely anyone could afford him.

the UFC will have to add a little juice to the deal since he will have to forgo
his sponsorships

I guess that can be fun, but I'm really enjoying the drama Lawler brings to WW title fights these days.
I feel like it's almost like Rocky V where Tommy Gunn was never really the champ in the ppls eyes because Rocky had just retired and everyone felt he could beat him. I feel like GSP is still the number 1 WW and he could beat Lawler.
