I care about arriving at what is most objectively true, that holds the least amount of bias and emotional affliction possible.

Winning or losing doesn't matter. Being corrected, learning something new and being forced to evaluate how I do things is a win as well in the grand scheme, if that does happen.

Dana didn't even book Stipe against either Sergei or Tom for the interim title. The plan was always for them to reschedule the fight once Jones healed, then whoever wins would fight the winner of Sergei Tom.

They'd already promoted the fight, hyped it up, spent money on arenas, videos, everything, already spent months doing camps for it. There was never any way that fight wasn't happening.

Jones fighting Tom would basically be saying fuck the contract, fuck Stipe even though he prepared to fight him for months, showed up to the ngannou fight knowing he would be next. Then waited half a year on top of that for him to heal.

Neither Jones or the UFC would've ever done that to Stipe. Hence why the Tom fight was never even an offer. You can't duck a fight that has never been on the table at any point.

He's publically stated that he doesn't want to fight Tom or wants a massive payday to do so, but he hasn't officially ducked anyone yet. Whatever is said in public could be seen as a sort of public negotiation tactic, putting him in a better spot to get the best deal possible, as DC also said.
