-Both have wrestle-boxer styles with average hands and above average kicking along with elite wrestling
-Neither can consistently form full sentences without stuttering or choking over words
-Both are average looking caucasians who are just under 6 feet tall
-GSP has 42% finishing rate while Colby has 45%

GSP and Colby are both master technicians in the cage and very similar stylistically when watching them compete. This is a good sign for Colby becoming a PPV draw eventually.

It seems like a classic “right time at the right place” situation for GSP. He came up during the right era, because this current WW landscape might not have been so kind to George’s.

GSP should come back for legacy and challenging fights. Not fights like these where said fighter has never won the belt.

GSP is a way better striker than Colby, nothing about Colby'a striking skills are above average and his MMA wrestling is nowhere near GSP's level. The only advantage he might have is his cardio and pace, but GSP is far superior everywhere.

Comparing Colby to the GOAT now?

GSP's striking is head and shoulders above Colby's.
His wrestling is way better too.

Colby is a good fighter, but he's nowhere near GSP.
Not even in the same galaxy, bro

His own coach described him as such in the documentary Takedown: The DNA of GSP.

I guess I'll have to take your word for that. I don't really see it, personally.

A wrestler, sure, but he throws way too many spinning kicks and superman punches for me to call him a boxer.

This landscape? You mean 3 LWs that cracked the top10 in this era that didn't dream of the wrestlersrow at WW during Georges' reign. You know, Cerrone, RDA and Masvidal, who were all there during Georges' reign.

These 1 dimensional striker WWs like Till and Wonderboy get absolutely dominated by prime Georges and it is worse than 50-45.

    ehhh wat?

Colby is a high volume clinch-first fighter who loves pressure

GSP is an out fighter who relies on the jab and double legs

If you think GSP's hands are/were average, you have a lot to learn. He just wasn't a risky puncher(or a risky fighter). How many were able to get through his jab?

The reason you think that about GSP is that English isn't his language. He seems reasonably eloquent in French.

GSP would still wreck this era pre knee-surgeries. Who is the threat? Colby, Till, and Tyron would get the same treatment as Koscheck. Wonderboy would get grounded out.
