Yes, she or should I say, her PR-firm brings attention and I can't speak for America but in Sweden, the debate is not about if the climate is changing due to man's activities but rather about the best way forward. She is simply not needed here.

I also think Greta's cult of a personality is problematic, too much focus on her rather than the climate. Her idiotic trip by sail boat to America is one example of that.

I personally would like to listen more to real researchers than a child that comes from a home with a narcissistic mother and she receives more air time than most researchers in Sweden.

I think Thunberg's point is that we aren't listening to the real researchers, and instead we're kicking the can down the road in the name of politics. Future generations are going to have to pay the bill as a result of our tepid response to an issue of growing importance.

Politicians get together and start debating about what to do about all those coal mining jobs that will be lost, debating such trifling concerns would be a luxury when climate change problems start piling up.

It's sad that a young adult has to be the voice of reason, but on the other hand, the new iPhones just came out and the new Tool album is pretty decent.

There’s no “GDS” most sane people see this for what it is, straight up child abuse and using a young girl for their talking points. Have any of you watched her talk and her mannerisms? This little girl should be outside enjoying her life with her friends instead of being in front of the UN whipping herself up with stress and anxiety. Her parents are fully to blame here and it’s sad to watch

Have you ever worked with kids on the spectrum? The last thing they need is stress and anxiety. The parents know this and still went along with it. I agree with you about the parents, and yes I've dealt with people on the spectrum. I used to date a girl who's little brother was severely autistic. Not functional, with the mind of a 5 year old. He was a sweet kid and I spent a lot of time with him.

Only from a cold logical standpoint can we say the parents are the cause of the attacks against Greta. That's just logical cause and effect.

But really the reason for the attack posts is because these people are absolutely bottom barrel garbage people. Unintelligent, unremorsful, discompassionate, apathetic pieces of shit. There is no other excuse for that kind of behavior.

its one thing to say things but there has to be real solutions.

China, USA, and India are the biggest polluters. China's economy is fueled on manufacturing shit for America. You cant separate that out and just say that's it's China's fault.
America has the political and economic power to literally change the world. We can force people to go green via political and economic pressure. We can supply and invest in green technology in developing countries.

What do you mean why would China listen to us? Who buys the shit that the Chinese make? Americans are blaming the Chinese for doing shit we are paying them to do. Guess how we get all of these luxury items like big screen Lcds for cheap? By exporting the labor to developing countries with cheap labor and zero regulations. If we raise our standards, the world has no choice but to do the same. All of the other countries with money are already on board--most of Europe, Canada, and I'd bet Australia and New Zealand would be on board. China and India cant ignore these markets.
But as long as profits are the first and only priority, nothing will change. And profits is the only thing that drives America.

There are solutions, there isn't the will to actually enact them from politicians or governments.

I wont say the parents are the cause but they are certainly responsible for this in some aspect. It's been well documented now. You put yourself out there like that and people will attack\threaten you this isn't new. If my daughter started doing something like this I would immediately make it stop not just for her own well being but for the rest of my family as well. It would put as all in unnecessary danger.
