Greg Jackson: Powerliftings a "problem" for Jon Jones

Coke Zero Bones was certainly unimpressive

He needs to get back to what got him to the dance in the first place, Hookers, 8ball, and a few ounces if MJ.

I wanna see Greg Jackson's I-Told-You-So dance

Looked slower, no noticeable power increase, stiffer movement, less striking output and he got tired quicker than usual.

Powerlifting experiment didn't seem to add anything better to his arsenal. Could be ring rust as well or both.

I'm with Greg. It was always weird to hear about the power lifting, as I never heard MMA trainers say that's a great idea. I get he did it to clear his head after his drug and legal problems, but it harms cardio and not the best balance for five round MMA bouts.

Jackson is going to sit Jon down and straighten him out. I bet he's less yoked for the DC match and have better cardio for it. He was already strong enough to take DC down in the first match, so it's kind of unnecessary for him to lift to begin with.

Fighting is not a body building competition .My neighbours a beast built like a brick shit house , spent a couple of years intimidating me , kicked my dog because we made too much noise in the garden . I jumped over the fence and slapped the fuck out of him .Shame it wasn't a bench press competition he would have won .

Good, fuck that guy.

He didnt seem gassed at all... just didnt pull the trigger. Every time he did he was doing just fine.

Perfect example was in the 5th round he gets a take down, then just stands up for no reason. And lets OSP up. Power lifting didnt do that. He was content with coasting.

power lifting is not a body building competition either

Jon didn't look gas at all in the osp fight.. Dude wasn't even breathing heavy compare to the Gus and Dc fight. Jon said he could've went 2 more rounds, easily.

Wait, did I read this right?

Greg Jackson has a problem with one of his fighters winning by 50-45?

Jones is best when he's quick and fluid. He did seem a bit robotic against OSP but I think that was mostly rust and playing it safe. I think he mentioned post fight that he was thinking too much if I'm not mistaken. Definitely seemed that way.

Powerlifting training doesn't affect your V02 max. Assuming a few pounds of added muscle will ruin your endurance is silly.

Don't see how jones gassed either, he was coming on stronger in the later rounds (and OSP is nothing if not a beast himself).

Isn't that exactly what DC predicted when he heard about the powerlifting? Also, it looked more to me like his problem was hesitation rather than fatigue, as Jones himself said in the post fight.

Jon Jones will never be the same fighter now that he stopped taking that intense performance enhancing drug (weed).

I take your point .When i used to weight train i used to only train compound exercises bench press, shoulder press, squat ,dead lift and curls. The chap who run the gym was a World champion and World masters champion power lifter , he was the current World Masters champion at the time . He would be a pensioner now or perhaps dead.
