Greg Hardy makes MMA look really bad

MMA is the only sport you can walk into with big athletic ability and reach the top within 2-3 years

Look at Greg Hardy, athletic as hell and a former NFL Pro Bowler, MMA debut in 2018 and by 2020 he is on UFC's main card

Greg Hardy could never make it that high in that short amount of time in any other major sport, no way he makes the NBA or MLB within 5 years if ever

No way he moves up that fast in boxing either, it takes years to reach top level status

So what does Greg Hardy say about MMA being a legit top tier sport?
WTF are you talking about?
MJ, Kobe and a myriad other NBA players were stars from the day they were drafted.

Same happens in almost every sport.
Teens get drafted by big teams all the time.

The big difference is that MMA is not a team sport, and as such they have to climb a ladder.

But UFC does not really treat MMA as a sport. If you are popular, they help you jump the line. But Hardy has to win.
Lucky for him, HW division is weak as ever, so he can climb much faster. But it's not here nor there.

Young talented ones climb pretty fast everywhere.

HW is terrible tho.. and it's not like Hardy is looking great, he has beaten absolute cans that had nothing to do in the UFC and went toe to toe with some short fat australian(?) guy

Oh, I thought you meant because of the other thing

You need to consider the age of the sport. Other sports that have been around for decades upon decades have been ingrained into society. Kids grow up playing these sports and becoming masters of their trade. Only the best of the best make it to the top because there is a huge talent pool to draw from.

Do you think there are MMA programs at every local high school, college programs that recruit and pay scholarships to these athletes, which then supply the UFC with talent to draw upon? No.

Greg Hardy would be, most likely, out-classed and dominated by the upper level competitors in his division. That doesn't mean that a phenomenal athlete, such as himself, can't come in and compete against some above average athletes who have had some experience in MMA and made it into the UFC. The talent pool isn't that big, compared to other sports.

Quit making stupid threads spouting off about irrelevant shit. You make yourself "look really bad".

Hardy trains hard in MMA

Fighting is also something people are born with. A lot of it is instinct and natural ability. Some people are fighters and others aren't. Being a good athlete
is just a small part of it. When good fighters train, they become elite

Someone like Lebron James, for example, is a complete bitch and would never be a good fighter

He's always on the main card, pretty sure it's in his contract. He's still only beat cans though so I don't get your point.

Get back to us when Greg Hardy wears the belt or has a title fight. A former Penn State college lacrosse player (Chris Hogan) played wide receiver for the Bills and Patriots. A former NCAA wrestler (Stephen Neal) became a long-time OL starter who played 7 or 8 seasons with the Patriots and collected 3 Super Bowl rings along the way. Neal did not play any college football while earning All American status during all 4 years as a collegiate wrestler and won national championships his junior year and senior year.

They sound like freaks. Something you don’t see in mma besides GSP.

Hardy has put in the work, by all accounts. So not sure why he makes mma look bad. You know, other than the domestic violence situations...

That's what I keep saying about Bo Jackson.

Dude destroyed kayfabe in pro sports.

Benji radach when he was near his prime , a top up and coming fighter, got knocked out by a random local tough guy who never had a fight, random tough guy wasnt even an mma fighter

So how does Giannis make the NBA look? Most high school players are more skilled at basketball than the most dominant player in the world right now.

The truth is that very few of the most popular sports require much skill. In fact, studies have shown that deliberate practice explains less than 1% of performance. If you are interested in skill sports, watch F1 racing or golf.

Not really, TS. Heavyweight mma has always been pretty shitty, particularly in the U.S, because there are simp,y better options for big, athletic males.

What are you talking about? Greg Hardy is ranked 85th at HW globally, that's not even close to the top.
