Greg Hardy has reached his ceiling

I think I'd rather have Soul On Ice back and this loser be banned instead.

Along with the cardio issue, Hardy has been training 4 years now and his jiu-jitsu is still non-existent.

Even guys like Rampage and Derrick Lewis have more game off their backs than Hardy.

Hence why he keeps crouching whilst fighting.
Scared to bump his head above mediocrity.

What else would the inhaler be for? If it wasn't asthma, there's nothing stopping Dana from calling him on it? Since he doesn't have the condition. Or NSAC saying something different.
Again, I apologize if I'm wrongly accusing anyone if they're genuinely ill, but when you consider how big those guys are the fact that an inhaler boosts non asthmatics as well - I just find it suspicious how many NFL athletes seem to have asthma.

He needs to change his diet & lose 10-15 lbs of mass in order to have that extra cardio.

OR, go balls to the wall in round 1 instead of trying to be methodical.

He cant try to be a point-fighter with that frame lmao

He lost because he didn’t cheat this time. Usually he finds some random ass way to cheat.

He needs to get his weight down...a simple change like this would greatly improve his overall MMA game

Consider this

A leaner, 245lbs Greg hardy would be a completely different fighter...MMA history has shown us 230 to 245lbs is optimum weight for performance for a Heavyweight...greg hardy is already pretty fast and explosive at 265 plus at lighter greg hardy would only be faster....and he would not gas as fast or hard

Also he needs to work his grappling...even to a point of serviceable for TDD or getting up...he doesnt need to be offensively grappling or be a top notch wrestler especially at HW he just needs to be able to close that option off for his opponents and keep the fight where his athletic gifts from football can shine which is on the feet...

It seemed to me he trained mostly stand up for the Tybura fight which shows ignorance and non respect for his opponent...that and being so heavy hurt him..

I hope be a coach one day..and i see the potential in Greg hardy and would love to work with him or someone like him one day as a fighter...cuz a few tweaks and the guy could be a champion

Oh I get what you mean, as if he is faking and but still has documentation to back it up. Marty Fakenewsman fakes injuries all the time. Its not a big deal to wonder about legitimate conditions. The dude has *YOLO* tatted on his shoulder, you shouldnt trust him. It wont matter until he loses weight anyway. The dudes too fat.

Yeah even Lewis and Francis realized they needed to back off from struggling with that limit, it's only a hindrance.

One of his largest problems is his pace, he still fights like a nervous amateur. Like a guy who just put on gloves and is going wild on a heavy bag. He tries to sprint out the gate.
Combine that with his Asthma and being way too heavy, he’s not going to fix any cardio problems soon. All those are huge issues.

I agree that we saw his ceiling last night, Tbh I think he even saw it himself when he was huffing and puffing against the cage afterwords, UFC is at a bit Of an impasse with him right now, either feed him cans, but that only lasts so long or put him up against a legitimate opponent, which we saw that result last night.

The only reason he's cleared of his domestic abuse charge is because he won appeal and the witness didn't testify again. If im remembering right. So its likely the witness was paid off, sketchy dude. Anyone with tribal tattoos shouldn't be trusted to be honest. I can't wait to see Economical Black Beast. Even Stipe cut down for his DC fights, DC's potbelly was his undoing in their 2nd fight.

Edit: Hasnt Arlovski always been on the smaller side for a Heavyweight to?

It's definatly for an extra performance boost. There have been alot of controversies with asthma inhalers and cross country skiers of example. A crazy amounts of elite cross country skiers just happens to have asthma, right?

Greg Hardy has defenitly improved since his debut, you'll have to give him that. His striking has come along nicely which was obvious in his fight against Volkov & Tybura. However, Tybura isn't much of a striker so looking good on the feet should be a given against him.

The problem Hardy has is that the strikers in the top 15 of the HW division all beat him easily in a striking match. Volkov, Reem, Miocic, Ngannou, Rozenstruik etc. Then you have the top grapplers like Blaydes, olynyk, Ivanov etc who easily beat him with 1 takedown.

Then you have other guys of similar skill guys who have better cardio like Tanner Boser, Spivak, the guy with the diaper (did ufc cut him?). Who beat him from rd 2 forward.

All of the top 15 beat him easily at this point.

What's Hardy to do? He legit has Asthma which affects his cardio greatly plus he's a HW. His cardio won't be improving beyond what he has now. His grappling won't improve to a point where he can rely on it anytime soon, if ever. Even if he did become a good grappler his cardio doesn't support that type of style.

He can't beat the strikers, the grapplers, or the guys with better cardio.

Imo Hardy doesn't even have a punchers chance against the top guys. His KO power is over exaggerated and is more akin to a myth as opposed to reality. He hasnt KO'd anyone who is seriously invested in MMA. The TKOs he has are from guys using the opportunity as a way out of the fight because alot of them were intimidated by Hardy due to his hype. He didnt even wobble Tybura and hit him with 5 straights in a row last night.

Hardy has improved greatly but he isn't UFC caliber, not even at HW. I appreciate that he gets people excited for his fights and I've persnally watched them all but I think he'll be around for 1 or 2 more fights and maybe he'll be off to another adventure.

Is there anyone who thinks he'll actually crack the top 10 of the division? If so, how?
Yeah this.

In defensive football you can scheme around winded dudes: DE's like Hardy play 2-3 snaps and rotate out, then also get a break when their team's offense is playing.
No way to hide a weakness like this over 15 straight minutes of combat where the other person's entire job is to find your weakness and bury you with it.

He has that round 1 shot. Against anyone above average he is fucked after that though.
not really, as the OP eluded to, which I agree with, he hasnt KO'd anyone that is legit B-level or better fighter.

he blasted tybura in round 1 and bloodied his face and tybura didnt flinch.

Its the same with alot of these recent ex NFL guys, Meathead was the only one for me that really had a fighters mentality even if he wasnt as "athletic".
