Grasso Noncommittal Regarding Shevchenko Trilogy: ‘I Don’t Like to Stop the Division’

They should not do an immediate rematch. It kills the division. Valentina already received her immediate rematch and didn’t win. It holds up the division.

Also, if they give it to her and she wins, they’ll be 1-1-1. How is it fair to not then give Grasso one (who already gave Shevchenko 2 of them). Then you’re looking at four consecutive fights between two fighters. Just terrible for the division.

Immediate rematches are out of control and need to be stopped.
 
Don’t think we need a third match. Val was given her shot and failed to recapture even if it is a weird draw. But ultimately it doesn’t bother me much as I had grasso winning the decision so the right result ultimately happened which was the belt stayed on grasso imo. Really no need to run it again. Val is still game but this is the downside of her career. Even if she only starts diminishing slowly. So since she was given her shot to recapture it’s time to move the division on for now.

I think that this is the logical choice. Cortez does have a win over Erin and has the looks to put asses in seats. Natalia Silva has the looks and attitude and all 3 have long winning streaks . Neither Grasso or Shev are fighting any of them. Let’s open this division up and see who remains on top.

Me, you, Daniel Cormier and Dominic Cruz all saw it as 2-2 going into the fifth and we know how that turned out. In the immortal words of Rick Flair “To be the man, you have to beat the man !” Val did great but to thin to get the belt back.

Val did not deserve the rematch in the first place. If Shev thought the first fight was a fluke, she shouldve sealed the deal better this time around.

Why is it so bad to ask any former champion to face another contender in the meantime? Age and your time left in the sport should not be a factor.

I agree. Erin is going to get picked apart on the feet by either Val or Alexa, and she doesn't disguise her TD attempts enough for them to be unstoppable. Manon fights very conservatively despite having stopping ability, but she seems more ready for the shot here and now.

If this was a year ago, I wouldn't have a prob with running it back again. The division is better now and there are real contenders waiting. Val should fight Santos and clear that controversial decision up first, while we get a fresh title fight.
