Do you guys have any kill stories from the streets in which you had to use grappling not as sport , but as self defense? Ofcourse, I do not nessecarily mean kill or anything, but I have had to use BJJ on two occasions on the street. The first time, I had to RNC a drunk guy , and I was sober, so it was nothing special. The second time, I was in a fight , and the person kicked me in the nuts then tackles me. It was a mad scramble on the ground, but I managed to gain a dominant mount position, and managed to pull off a textbook arm bar from the mount and when he asked for mercy, I released. Alcohol was also a factor in this. I don't fight all the time or anything ( I have been in only 4 fights in my 19 yr old life- first, when I was 8, 2nd, 12 and the last two 17 and 18). So I guess BJJ DOES work on the streets- does anyone have similar stories?

Many people say that BJJ doesn't work on the street, but I think it is like any other discipline, indeed any of them could be effective on street.

Ju-Jitsu works in real fighting, the only argument for why it doesn't is the oft said "if you go to the ground, his buddys....".
Plainly one of the stupidest statements ever made, anyone who thinks they can stand up strike several people down is either full of it or dreaming.
In a one on one fight, it is definately one of the best arts, and in some cases, it should be the defensive art of choice. Just think of all the classes of womens self defence where they practice un-realistic striking against what will most likely be a much larger and stronger opponent. In most situations, a women will be attacked by one individual, who will attempt to hold them in place if not on the ground.

in my only street fight, i choked a dude out with a guillotine. the guy kept trying to punch me in the body & he tried to sratch the shit out of me (while being choked). i was lucky the dude didnt have a weapon or anything like that.

at my bjj school on saturdays we train bjj for self-defense, which im glad.

lol wish i would have seen that.

A guy I work with is head bouncer at the biggest college club in tampa, He says he doesnt use much bjj on the guys he kicks out.. Some times the RNC, but normaly they just over whelm the guys by shear #.. 5 220+ lbs guys... Vs.. 2 Flea thugs from the poser mobile commercials.

Gsoares2, I havent trained in a while where do you train?

Lol and the fight was kinda comical..I basically suped the guy and pinned him in side control. At the time I had not done BJJ(lucky for him) so I just held him down. He wasnt moving anyway..I hope he was ok.. :)

Then a big fat ass bouncer grabbed me by my neck from behind so my lil bro came from the side and took him down..before long about 5 guys "escorted" us out and tossed us on the concrete outside..LOL..tore up our jeans and everything.

that was in my younger days..prolly mid 20's, Im 35 now.

I would be leary of using a Guillotine in real life. It is too easy to get the trachea choke, rather than the proper blood choke, and you could possibly kill the guy.

Please ... somebody make a Street Fighting forum. Please?

I landed a flying omoplata on the street once...far away...in Canada somewhere.

When the fight goes to the ground the opponents buddys cant do enything,,, It takes only like 5 seconds to finnish the guy.

Stop the madness.

If you can find one example of a person with any triaining whatsoever accidently killing someone while trying the guillotine, I'll let you change my avatar for a month.

Grapplins kill stories is an awful name for a thread, especially with your examples. The closest I could think of using as examples have been restraining drunken or pissed off friends at parties or fucking around where I've just flattened them out and got on their back until they chilled out. A few times, I've used techniques while working security at a hospital, including "gift wrapping" a coworker who got shitfaced and out of control at a party. The gift wrap is when you wrap a guy's arm around his own head, gripping his wrist behind his head. I don't know any other name for it.

Although the following article refers to the Rear Naked Choke (not the Guillotine), nevertheless, its principles still apply.

I thought you were counter pointing me at first, and was going to say "Where is the example?", but instead, I commend you on proving my point... The real techniques aren't going to "accidentally" do anything. They're done with a specific purpose in mind: if you want to kill someone with it, you will, if not, you won't... Any "accidents" would be the result of meatheads that don't know what they're doing, or someone making excuses for killing someone.

Yep.
