Grappling in a street fight a good idea?

It depends on what happened.

Sometimes its what you need to do. You might not punch hard enough to hurt them.

Plus it's not like to go into a striking ot grappling "mode"

If you need to throw the fucker to the ground and then beat his ass, do that shit. Once you got them on the ground just beat the everloving bejeezus out of em.

Even if your a weak puncher, you can drop 12 to 6's till they die.

It's not a fuckin game.

All you have to do is turn into prime gsp and you will automatically win any fight

Street fights are uncontrolled environments. You don't know who's with them, what they have etc. Your whole goal is to end the fight as fast as possible and retreat if things start to turn for the worst

If your able to dump someone on their head or slam them then I'd say that is effective and counts as grappling

When your opponent cant see, take him down and tell people how good you are

sure, why not?

The argument of you shouldn't grapple someone in a one vs one because someone else can stomp on you from behind makes little sense. It's not a one vs one then...

In a life or death situation, yes, but bro nobody is trying to get a 20 year prison sentence for some random bullshit street fight.

A standing RNC is a very powerful tool against untrained opponents and also it's hard for his friends to do much to you without potentially hurting their friend. I've put over 12 people to sleep using it in street fights and ended others just by securing the position.

I'm not trained but I managed a standing kimura once, fucked up the guy pretty badly. Wouldn't necessarily advise to do it but it can work.

I do get the folks saying "just don't fight", but sometimes you don't get to choose, it just happens, even if you're the biggest pacifist.

I saw a guy pull guard on someone outside a bar. That fella rampaged slammed him on the sidewalk.

I was like goddamn but all the quarters he had in his pocket flew out like Mario Bros. I had to laugh and go back inside cause it was cold outside.

If your opponent isnt trained do fight on the ground and you are, you're winning the battle obviously but there's risks in taking the fight to the ground.

The other guy can have buddies who can just kick your head while you're scrambling on the ground, broken glass on floor, maybe you're fighting in a bar and there's chairs/tables in the way. I mean there's so many environmental factors that make grappling kinda risky

I've seen club bouncers use suplexes to break up fights between drunk idiots. Or cops/security have to use takedowns to arrest a non compliant subject.
Just speculating, but judo might be the best form of grappling for dealing with multiple opponents in a street fight situation. Keep throwing them onto the floor/pavement. Whaddya think?
