This song came on the radio a lot at work and I always liked it, but just recently I listened to the words closely and realized he's trying to be ironic about being "the man"
Basically the part where he says, "don't try to teach me, got nothing to learn" was the biggest clue that he's criticizing masculine confidence rather than embracing it.
Which is a shame. Because almost every rap song is about boasting about how you're the best, toughest, smoothest, etc. and that seems to be accepted. Guess it's not ok for other genres to have songs with similar themes.
But I submit that you should ignore that one line in this song, and treat it as if it were genuine. Because there are times when you bang that hot chick, get that promotion, or defeat your rival, and in those times, it's okay to be "the man"
