Got fired from work today

My advice.......join a union, and this will never happen to you again.

I've seen 2 guys fired at my current union job(10 years). One overdosed on heroin while on the clock and the other punched someone in the face. The amount of shit people have done and kept their job is ridiculous.

A friend of mine is in employment law (in Cali fwiw). The word back is that you'd have little chance of success with a suit based on the details I gave. If you had more than one instance of getting called a or something along those lines then you could show a hostile work environment. Just one incident doesn't amount to much and you weren't fired for your orientation. But if you had ever done any whistle-blowing or made a claim for unpaid wages a clever lawyer could possibly "extort a settlement".
