Economy GOP back to Inflation worries. "Hyperinflation" (Update: 2022 Inflation Highest in 40 Years)

The Carbon tax definitely caused raised prices on goods. It’s not the only cause, but it’s there.

Corporations are not in the business of losing money, so when it costs them more to bring their goods to market that cost increase is passed on to consumers. Our politicians don’t care that people’s purchasing power is going down the drain, as long as they can virtue signal about the environment.

A carbon tax doesn’t affect the wealthy as much as regular folks. When you make millions, you’re never going to change your driving habits because of the price of gas.

I don’t really follow Canadian politics. I know that here though inflation is largely a trailing effect of the COVID disruption of the supply chain. It’s more complicated than that to be sure, but is has almost 0 to do with who is sitting in as president.

Republicans love to blame it on Biden but they can’t actually point to any policy that caused it. They’re to simple about this stuff. Most of them probably realize it has nothing to do with him but are eager for the cheap “win”.

Many American liberals are definitely getting exposed for not actually caring about wealth inequality. When asked about the rising costs, many of them just shrug their shoulders and say that inflation is a sign that the economy is booming, ignoring the disproportionate affect it has on poor people

guys, the person losing the sig bet is just so much smarter and more informed than us. we're all just idiots and don't know what we're talking about. there's no inflation, he says so. and it's obviously not biden's fault, since there's no inflation to even fault him for. duh!
I mean, I actually chuckled when he said I didn’t predict it. Even though I bet it would happen.

Jack Dorsey is not being critical of Biden (albeit in a slightly esoteric manner) now that he's stepped down from his CEO position

Just my opinion but if not for almost every central bank pumping liquidity into the economy we would be in a deflationary phase.

A ton of zombie companies with easy access to capital right now and subsidized industries that will have to consolidate or fail without them.

Technology is deflationary and disruptive.

How come in some other countries Inflation hasn't risen that much or higher? i knew the prices of food would rise during covid the supply chain because you had articles saying all the way through 2018/2019 that higher prices of food, good would rise in the next two years even if there was no covid pandemic.

The Canadian liberals just like Biden admin/Democrats believe its a temporary issue i dont think so i think they just dont want to admit that this would becoming a problem.

We pay our debts, by getting into more debt to pay the other debt
Well that's inevitable when you borrow money from the same people you owe the money to lol. Not that the government even has a choice, several US presidents were assassinated shortly after giving the US treasury the power to issue new currency.

What solutions for which problems do you have?

Stop the large government spending bills. Increase the federal rate slightly.

Have to be very careful, as these adjustments can also lead to a recession if not done precisely. Need intelligent people involved, and unfortunately those don’t exist really in politics.

Problem is the Fed is stuck. It would be economic suicide to raise rates the way we need to. Which is why they came out today with the same BS statement kicking the can down the road.

We have 2 choices.....
Live through this inflation or burst the bubbles the fed has propped up irresponsibly.
