"good" movies you shut off

+1 on Bladerunner.
I love Alien, Ridley Scott and Sci-fi but I turned that off twice about 30 minutes in.

I second Blade Runner.

I'll add Crash (Oscar winner for Best Picture), Sin City and 25th Hour

I thought I was only one of two people who didn't like Sin City !! I tried to go to sleep in the cinema but couldn't.

Capote

Not that it was bad or anything, but I just kept dozing off in the theatre.

I kind of understand Blade Runner, it took me 3 watches to really enjoy it.

Fear and Loathing I turned off too. Bought the DVD and wished I hadn't.

Crash was just a piece of shit movie, trying extremely hard to be dramatic but ultimately it fails just as hard because it's just meaningless crap.

I found it hard to concentrate during Shutter Island and Primer both of which I consider great movies.

To the TS... Who in the fuck ever said Transformers 3was good?

I second Blade Runner.

Ill give you Crash, that was some overblown Oscar bait. But Sin City. That film is entertaining as hell. 25th Hour is also a great film.

Brokeback Mountain. Had a hard time finishing that movie. Nothing to do with man-on-man, I just found it hard to sit through.

If you're in to sad films you should give it another go. One of the p4p saddest, IMO.

Reservoir dogs, several times. Bloody torture it is.

Dredd
Reservoir Dogs
Lost in Translation
When Harry Met Sally
History of Violence
The Kings Speech
Royal Tennenbaums
Punch Drunk Love
Sideways
Dumb and Dumber
Bad Santa
Napoleon Dynamite
Shaun of the Dead
Clerks

These films make me want to spit at the screen.

I hardly ever turn a movie off cuz...I am a movie fan. Sideways takes the cake tho.

Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas

Ok, I need to leave this thread before I have an aneurysm. People are listing great films all over the damn place.

What's wrong with you people?

Really, people?

Michael Bay's Transformers movies? Those are NOT good movies.

You SERIOUSLY need to give that one another go round. It truly is a classic.

It's one of the few films I where I really can't imagine not liking it... I mean, what's not to like?

I liked it but can see why some people don't. Very slow moving and if your not big on gangster stuff it would be a bore.

Hardly a classic or even top 20 imo

I watched Sideways on a plane back from Florida and while I didn't turn it off I wasn't impressed. It had its moments, but not worthy of a second watch.

+1 on dredd a bunch of sherdoggers were praising it on the official thread some even calling it movie of the year so I decide to watch and my god what a crappy movie it was

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA... Ok?

It's not even about the "gangster stuff". Ill give you the slow moving part, although, again, i think the pacing is perfect. However, In terms of filmmaking there are very films that even come close. Acting, directing, writing, cinematography, editing, score, it's all some of the best in cinema history.

To be clear, I'm speaking from a film buff/critic/maker point of view, and I seriously doubt we are looking at films in even remotely the same way. I'm not trying to be a douche here, I'm just basing this on the fact that you started the thread suggesting Transformers 3 was perceived as a good film, an opinion I have literally never come across in my life.

punch drunk love.

I revisited it once and facefowarded through 1/3 of the movie, lol

To be clear your no diff then every other wannabe movie critic out there and your opinion belongs to you only.

I have over 1000 DVDs I know just as much about movies as anyone I consider myself a huge critic so don't pretend to be above me as if you know something I dont.

I had friends tell me transformers 3 was good I don't really care what you heard or didn't hear about it.

Now remove your head from ass and get off the high horse

ooooooOOOOoooooo.

I find it so funny when people argue about TV/films and music.

I really wasn't trying to be a douche.

And just to be clear, I am a little different than most "wannabe" film critics, in that I've worked professionally as a film critic and as an actor, writer and director.

Just saying.

And as an aside, you said Godfather wouldn't even be in the top 20 in your opinion.

I'm very curious... What films would be in your top 20?
