Good Graphic Novels?

So I've never really read any graphic novels but have recently developed an interest in them. Looking for some suggestions of good ones that require no previous knowledge of the story. I just finished the first couple of volumes of Walking Dead and really enjoyed it. Really interested in any good horror stories, but open to super hero stuff as well as long as its a little dark.

This. One of the best comic books written in the past ten years.

Most of the superhero books (other than Watchmen, which is an anti-superhero book) no matter how well written are just fucking fast food garbage.
