Good BJJ Gi brands?

I'm biased and have to recommend the brand in my signature.

That being said, a lot of the brands are very similar in cut and its just a matter of style and patches that make a big difference.

For a beginner, a fuji is a good brand to go with. I've tried many brands of gis, know the cuts I like, so at this point I wouldn't buy another fuji. But it is a solid cheap gi that can get you through your first 6 months-year.

I have come to the conclusion that when it comes to gi's, you really get what you pay for. Every cheaper gi I have tried shrunk a lot, got bent out of shape after a while of washes, some got fuzzy balls and overall made me very unhappy.
I vote for Koral or Atama too. Best gi's out there. But if you really want to go cheaper, most if not all gi's I have had problems with were in the under $100 category.

how about Vulkan?

I've had a Fuji and an hck single for almost three years now, both are still going strong. (Fuji is definitely more worn out)

i also recommend killer bee gi company. Also, check out the Ronin brand from Kinji San. Both are affordable and you won't have to deal with the shrinkage problems associated with Fuji gi's.

I personally prefer Koral but I understand they are bit pricey.

Mantos are good for the price, but a wee bit baggy IMO.

I like Ronin I think mine was 110. It fits perfect and everything has held up very well including the pants. My gi is blue and the color has even stayed fairly dark even after washing it a bunch of times.

i have had ouano, some no-name brand, and currently have a couple of fuji gis. fuji wins for price vs performance.

they are killer for the price.

note that the kassen isn't ibjjf legal, so take that into consideration. they are heavy, and they are hot, but they are built like tanks and the price is right. i switched out the drawstring in the pants with a stretchy rope type.

i'm thinking of ordering one of their summerweight models.. but i kinda want to try a gameness air.

The expensive gis I considered was CTRL and Moya.

Someone I train with has this gi, not sure of the quality but it looks super nice. Has a cool liner.

So do you work for this company? I only ask because you necro'd a three year old thread for this.

Bjjhq.com sells one item a day starting at 11pm and very often sell gi's that end up being around thirty less than what you pay anywhere else. It's worth checking out but make sure you check right at 11pm because, especially with gi's, they sell out quickly. I've gotten a Tatami and Vulkan from there.

As a side note, you may want to find something labeled with "light" or "ultra light" so you don't feel like you're carrying a wet blanket.

11pm central time?

Jiu-Jitsu Pro Gear made a nice gi that was very similar to Koral's, but I think they went under.

My Atama has held up nicely, but was around $150.

I've never had a Fuji, but everything I hear about them is good. Quality build and are cheaper than most brands, like $70 or so.
